would that fame them just 'flaps'??

No Idea, I think it would make them a whole different kind of cake!

surely oats is what makes it a flapjack?

if it's an allergy question, you can get gluten free porridge in most of the big supermarkets and in health food stores, then just substitute for the oats in the recipe!

Flaps...? Wouldn't want to bake mine.

SoupDragon · 17/02/2008 17:21

Presumably you can substitute another oat-like grain.

MrsBadger · 17/02/2008 17:23

you can make similar sticky cake things with rice crispies - is that it?

th3bl4ckp4nth3r · 17/02/2008 17:25

well he seems to think they can be made with cornflakes!!! i've only ever made them with oats but he says his old school dinner lady used to make them with cornflakes.

oh, yes, dead easy, you don't even need to bake them

just melt some butter and syrup (or use mars bars if you're really lazy), stir in cornflakes till all the liquid is absorbed, press into a tin and chill.

Is no way 'flapjack' though, tis 'cornflake crunch crisp' or something

hes very fussy, i make my own quiche, i've always made it the same way, but once i put cream instead of milk and added some mixed herbs in it, he turned his nose up at it until he tasted it then had to swallow his words lol

lol at the quiche. My dad was v fussy with food. If you made quiche lorraine he'd turn his nose up at fancy foreign rubbish, but if you called it bacon and egg flan he wolfed it down
