Cook lasagne for new parents or not?

Making a lasagna for new parents. They will be having it for dinner this evening. Should I finish it off in the oven or will it be better to just assemble and let them finish baking it? Am making garlic bread too which will need to go in the oven

If you cook it then they can microwave it.

If you don't cook it they will have to put it in the oven for a while.

When I've done meal trains we tend to drop off around dinner time so we deliver it fully cooked.

Otherwise I'd still cook it and get can microwave it later or ask them what their preference would be.

What a lovely thing to do. I'd give it to them cooked as pp have said. The garlic bread won't take much time in comparison.

Do they know you're making it? I'd be a bit bemused if someone delivered me a meal for this evening, I've already planned the next few days meals. Even more so if they hadn't cooked it!

Thanks all. I always try to do new parents a cooked meal now as I'll never forget a friend dropping one off for us when our first was born and I was nearly in tears I was so grateful for it, was the most helpful gift.

What a lovely story @QueenLagertha

Quite brought tears to my eyes in empathy. Completely admiring you for paying it forward

Usually, with a lasagna I'd say assemble and leave them to put in the oven at their convenience. However, it sounds like they know it's coming and are planning accordingly? In which case, a lasagna is best if it's stood for a while anyway and I'c consider doing it and then taking it over immediately, for arrival at dinner time.

I also do meals for friends with small babies for the same reason - I'm not sure we'd have survived without some of those freezer meals friends stocked me with! One friend in particular was a godsend - she once left a sausage casserole and a banana bread carefully wrapped up on my front porch. I was there but she knocked super quietly in case I was sleeping or trying to settle DS (I was) and then just texted me. I think I cried.

Assuming they know it's coming, I'd cook fully and drop off straight away.
