Healthier baking cookbook advice

I love baking and eating the baked goods made... Cakes and biscuits etc.

But obviously most delicious bakes involve a lot of fat and sugar etc! I don't mind eating these at all, but want to cut down a bit and change the way I bake. I have several recipes I use and/or adapt for this, but wondered if anybody has any recommendations of a cookbook (not online, actual book) where most of the recipes either:

  1. Incorporate ingredients with high nutritional value (eg vegetables, seeds etc)
Or
  1. Have less sugar/fat or alternatives to them (eg stewed apple replacing sugar)

And no really niche or hard to find or super expensive ingredients. And also (crucially!) the results taste good.

Reading through this does seem very specific criteria! But perhaps someone out there knows of a book that fits these exact requirements! Want something new that will make me excited to try out new recipes and help me shift to more nutritional, but still delicious, baked goods.

Have you tried Anna Jones’ books? She hasn’t got a specific baking book but most of her books have some sweet treats but with healthier ingredients. I’ve found everything I need for the recipes I’ve made easily but I am in London and do have access to health food shops. And everything definitely does taste good!

Thank you, will try one of hers! Any recommendation for a particular one?

I guess what I'm looking for is recipes that make more nourishing and nutritional bakes, rather than ones that are purely and gratuitously sweet and fatty!

The snappily titled ‘Red Velvet chocolate heartache’ by Harry Eastwood, is the book you need. I have it and the recipes work.

Book

Re Anna Jones, I have a couple of her books and use recipes from both so not able to recommend one over the other. Maybe have a look at her website though to get some ideas and see if it’s the type of thing you’re after.

I don't think it matters which Anna Jones book you have though once you have one, you'll want another.
