Great, easy, no bake dessert??

Hi all,

I’m abroad and visiting a friend tomorrow - I have offered to take dessert… I can get ingredients but ideally something no bake as the oven in my apartment isn’t working! They are foodies, so something a bit special would be lovely (but not too complicated?!)

Any ideas??

TIA

No bake cheese cake?

Easter Rocky Road?

Chocolate tart ... can't remember exact recipe but usual biscuit crumb base, mix up melted dark chocolate, cream cheese and double cream (it will set), decorate with chocolate mini eggs.

A lemon curd Eton mess. Or BBC Good food do a Lemon and Blackberry one 🍋

Easter Rocky road, with mini eggs in it!

Whip up equal quantities of natural yoghurt and double cream till it’s really thick. Put fresh fruit at the bottom of a big bowl (like a trifle bowl). Pour this on top. Put a thick layer of Demerara sugar on top and leave overnight. It’s the simplest and best pudding ever.

Whenever people come to visit us they ask for it and it just takes 5 mins if that.

Tiramisu.

If you can buy small pastry / tart cases: brush the bottom and sides with melted dark chocolate, fill with cream cheese mixed with a little Grand Marnier (or orange juice for teetotallers), top with whole strawberries brushed with melted raspberry jam that has been thinned with Grand Marnier / orange juice. Serve with whippped cream.

Lemon posset with some lovely shop bought sable or buttery shortbread biscuits on the side

Sorry! I see I'm just repeating someone else's suggestion

Following - some lovely ideas here!

Florissant · 07/04/2023 13:01

A trio of sorbets, eg mango, raspberry and lemon served with langue de chats biscuits and decorated with fresh fruit.

DaysofHoney · 07/04/2023 13:20

Posset idea is fab… I’m going for a version of Erin mess (lemon and raspberry), a la BBC recipe… might need to freestyle it, they only had single cream…

So I’m mixing Cream with yoghurt(?), breaking up meringues, stirring though with lemon curd and some smushed raspberries, then topping with a little lemon zest and rasps.

love the idea of posh shortbreads on the side, thanks @Florissant

ThisName I haven't heard of that dessert for years (1970s?) but I remember it now and it is lovely, thanks for the memory, will make it this weekend.

Nigella is my go to.

Either her rocky road. It's dark chocolate and very grown up. Extremely easy.

Or, her Baileys, whiskey and white chocolate cheesecake. Bit more of a faff.

Or a lotus cheesecake. That's pretty easy for a fabulous result.

IlonaRN · 07/04/2023 20:12

Nigella's no bake cherry cheesecake

Angel Delight with sprinkles 😂

Fruit salad and cream

Angel Delight with sprinkles 😂

In the 1970s/80s DM would make chocolate Angel delight with cream, and serve it in fancy bowls with grated rum and raisin chocolate. Fooled everyone for years.

Could you buy brownies, Ice cream & strawberries ? - it's my lazy dessert for when I can't think of anything.
