Not really following a recipe so just wondered what people think goes well? I'm doing leftover chicken and ham, softened leeks and a basic white sauce so just after something to jazz it up a bit.

Thyme or winter savory in winter, parsley or tarragon in summer.

Lemon peel and thyme and tarragon.

i often used to make chicken ham and leek pie, or similar, probably add mustard to the white sauce

Tarragon

Thanks all, I went with thyme (didn't have tarragon) and there's not a scrap left (sorry BitOutOfPractice) so I'm calling that a win Smile

i use thyme too. Not keen on licorice type flavours. We often do chicken pies (batch cook the filling and then use ready-made pastry in the pie maker).

Glad it went down well!

Thyme or marjoram

Rhyme, sage, paprika (gives a nice smokey note to the dish), tarragon, clove, nutmeg

Tarragon

The recipe I use for chicken and leek pie, has flat leaf parsley in it.

Lovage is an underrated herb that goes very well with chicken.

Tarragon for a Frenchy taste, but also any of the traditional parsley, sage, rosemary & thyme will work.
