Replacing shortening with butter in recipes

I want to make some heart shaped biscuits (ala NIgella in feast) for my DH for valentines day (awww). But the recipe calls for vegetable shortening which I don't have and don't want to use anyway because of all the trans fats.

Can I replace it with butter - and if so, is it a like for like replacement and do I need to add more flour to compensate for increased liquid from butter?

Thanks

I'm sure you can just replace 1 for 1. Veg shortening is just fat, same as butter. Or use Bertolli, olive oil spread, which I use use in everything. No trans-fats, just good ones (unlike butter)

Thanks captainmummy - I just used butter and it worked fine. They were yummy and look gorgeous!
