School baking on a budget

Schoolwoes123 · 21/03/2023 23:12

There is a lot of school baking coming up over the next few months. I am on a bit of a budget so I am wondering if people could please share any recipes that won’t break the bank.
Thanks 💐

I've found the really cheap chocolate you get for 33p-36p in asda and aldis is perfect for brownies, I use the dark in the base and break up a white version to go in them.
Scones are very cheap to make and can vary the flavouring, plain or a few raisins even better if you have some sour milk and you don't like wasting anything like me.

Scones and rock buns are quick and cheap to make, also jam tarts using economy jam.

Muffins. Lots of recipes are really just flour/flavouring/egg and some milk. I have a chocolate muffin recipe that doesn't even require chocolate - just some cocoa powder. they come out like very light cupcakes.

The cheap 33p choc bars and a box of cheap cornflakes is my go to bargain bake.

Use soft baking spread/tub margarine and do a Mary Berry-style traybake..for example lemon sponge with lemon icing on top. Big A4 tray, cut cake into fingers or squares. Or muffins which use oil rather than butter - add a bar or two of chopped up budget chocolate or frozen blueberries to the mix.

What’s the objective? In my year group it’s cutting and peeling, so I plan my recipes around this. I could try to help with recipes with this 😊

I don't understand. What do you mean by 'school baking'?
