I want someone on here to enter masterchef. I think it would be excellent fun to follow a contestant and we could all row constantly help out with the recipes. Go on someone must harbour a secret desire to.

Suzywong knows John Torrode or her dh does I think.
Go on, some should at least enter. Tigerfeet if you do we will spend hours showing you links of posh foods you will be very well prepared.

so, you haven't found a contender yet then...

(and since this has turned to sex... I'd do the one with hair)

Carmenere · 11/02/2008 15:50

Oh yes the one with the hair too

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 15:51

actually I did enter

but then they started being norty on the thread so I didn't come back and tell you

but I need to know what the difference is between Masterchef and Masterchef Goes Large? Coz I entered the Goes Large.

Carmenere · 11/02/2008 15:53

Horayyyyy!!!! Oh I am very excited. I don't know but will find out the difference Well Done

they have dropped the 'goes large' it is just plain old masterchef. good the goes large bit was rather well erm common. i wanted to enter too but since i would be a bit horrified at a career in food perhaps not the best idea. torode and gregggg are both vile.

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 16:05

hmmm hadn't thought of the consequences of actually winning the thing

however I doubt that would be an issue

it is very wishy washy about getting back to you - if you don't here within a couple of months then you can assume you haven't been put forward

I am not really waiting on tenterhooks or with bated breath

Mercy · 11/02/2008 16:06

Well done Tigerfeet - tell us more!

What about COV?

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 16:07

hear

Carmenere · 11/02/2008 16:07

Ok I think we need a few more mners to enter too to increase our chances. Anyone else want to give it a go?

OP posts:
Carmenere · 11/02/2008 16:08

Oh yes COV would be good

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 16:09

You have to have three courses ready at the same time don't you? Arrgghhhhhh.

Carmenere · 11/02/2008 16:12

What time of the year will it be recorded at? You get brownie points for being seasonal(and minuses for not being seasonal)

ComeOVeneer · 11/02/2008 16:13

Would this menu do?

Starter - Mushroom and gruyere souffles
Main - Fillet steak with a red wine reductions on a bed of wilted spinach with crispy shallots and creamed horseradish mash
Palate cleanser - vodka and grapefruit granita
Dessert - Espresso pannacotta with dark chocolate sauce.

It is what I am making for dh and I for valentine's day.

ladette · 11/02/2008 16:13

My DCs keep telling me to apply but no chance. Someone I know was on there once and they absolutely pulled her to bits and allegedly they are even worse off camera. So no thanks. But happy to help with menus if anyone else enters (tho can't top Cod's Prawn curry followed by lemon drizzle cake!)

Kathyis6incheshigh · 11/02/2008 16:14

Oh what a brilliant idea (but not me, I'd be rubbish.)

Lapin must enter - she makes parmesan ice cream and talks about whipping up a quick sabayon.

That is a lovely menu COV, lucky dh

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 16:26

COV I was wondering about steak with horseradish mash although mine was with "seasonal veg" and with a spicy parsnip soup for starter and chocolate roulade for dessert. Mine is so much more pedestrian

You MUST enter.

MamaG · 11/02/2008 16:29

anyway cod whcih would you do?

Carmenere · 11/02/2008 16:29

There seems to be a middle ground you must hit to be sucessful. ie you must do something complicated enough to show that you can actually cook yet not too complicated as to be fussy or too risky.
I have noticed that unless the soup is amazing they are not too impressed with soup. A chef should be able to make really good soup as a matter of course iyswim so I think you need something a little more tricky TF. What else can you do?

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 11/02/2008 16:29

Mine certainly will be done under pressure. I also have to bake 48 white chocolate frosted cupcakes with handmade pink icing roses and leaves and cellophane wrapped bags of white/pink/mint coloured heart shaped peppermint creams (at dd's request, next tiem I will keep quite and choose what to make) for dd's school valentines cake sale on the same day!

ComeOVeneer · 11/02/2008 16:30

BTW may I point out I'm not entering

Carmenere · 11/02/2008 16:31

Not yet

ComeOVeneer · 11/02/2008 16:33

When would I find the time? Inbetween decluttering and redocarating my entire house, toilet training ds, learning the piano, being chairperson of the pta, taking up pilates!

Anyway I really don't think I am up to cometitive standard.
