Ninja Max air fryer - underwhelmed. Have I made a mistake?

Or can you persuade me that it's fantastic and tell me what to make?

I'm veggie, my daughter likes chicken nuggets and chips type food 🙄

It's just not very wide, you can only out one type of food in at once and so far I don't think I've got the hang of it - what am I missing?

I made baked feta cheese with veg this week. I took the plate out and put mushrooms, think onion chunks, carrots and red pepper in the bottom, sprayed with a little oil and air fryer for 5 minutes. I then pushed the veg around the sides so I could fit a slab of feta cheese in ( covered in mango chutney) and cooked for another 5 mins.

It served two people as we ate it with a couple of mini garlic naan bread which I popped in the toaster.

We have a Ninja Dual, and there's quite a lot of things that you can do in it.

We're a family of 4 and were without a kitchen for about 3 months due to building work, and it was a godsend then. We cooked roasts in in, chicken stuffed with boursin wrapped in bacon, fajitas, chicken wings, chicken thighs, roasted veg, chicken curries, chilli con carne, baked camembert, pork chops, kebabs etc as well as the obvious sausages/bacon/beige food etc.

Now we have normal kitchen facilities back, we do still use it, but obviously less.

I wouldn't cook a whole roast in it, but I would roast a chicken in it to serve with salad and new potatoes to save putting the oven on.

I use it for sides to meals that aren't cooked in the oven e.g. garlic bread with Spag Carbonara or spring rolls with a stir fry or onion bhajis/samosas/pakora with a curry.

It's the best and easiest way to cook sausages and bacon (and as a bonus it never sets the smoke alarm off, which always seems to happen when I grill them).

It's great for hungry teens making themselves cheesy chips or fishfingers/nuggets/burgers etc.

Overall, I'm glad we got ours.

I had got the impression that they were a convection oven and I'm sure I've heard about loads of things you can do.

This one has a dehydration mode which I'll probably use as I do canoe expeditions

That sounds amazing: does the canoe pop up again when it hits the water and rehydrated?

I do boiled eggs - 170 Airfry for 7/8 mins depending on how running you like

I also do cakes - you can get 6" cake tins in B&M and I have done Victoria Sponge, Coffee Cake, Chocolate cake

I also have a 1lb loaf tin and have made a couple of loaf cakes.

I think it's a case of getting familiar with it, I didn't really use mine much to start, it all seemed abit overwhelming in info to be honest.

But I now haven't used my oven in 6 months - I literally do everything in there. So last night we had fajitas, just chucked it all in the bottom without the crisper plate and shook it up a few times. I do a roast every sunday. It reheats pasties and samosas - I literally use it for everything.

I don't get how it would help me. Can you cook for a family of four in it? The thing like the tacos mentioned above you are still using the hob, I just chuck the tacos in the microwave for a couple of minutes.

I have a tiny kitchen so it needs to earn it's keep - following this with interest!

I have an absolute hate of things that go soggy in the microwave so I'd never put taco shells in there. But that's me.

Also,I have no problem using it alongside the stove. I like that I don't have to turn the oven on, wait for it to heat up and then take 25 minutes to cook things. I also often use it for small things that for me make it worth it.

But... if I had very limited space, I would find it annoying, I'm sure.

I have plenty of space and an old oven that doesn't work well - and most of the time I'm cooking for one or two - so it should be ideal!

Some great ideas and I'm determined to to make the most of it.

DD loves a cooking gadget but so far has used it to warm up cookies!!
