Mad hatters tea party

DD has recently discovered Alice in wonderland and wants a mad hatters tea party for her birthday.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can serve 6 constantly hungry 9 year olds please?

Jam heart sandwiches
Jam tarts
Colin the caterpillar cupcakes (or make your own cheaper version with Colin chocolate faces)
White rabbit cupcakes
Cheesy white rabbit crumpets
Bunny crisps

Could you go to some charity shops and choose 6 different tea cups to serve lemonade in?

Also, cupcakes with "eat me" signs.

I'd do a kid-focused afternoon tea.
Sandwiches, cocktail sausages/mini sausage rolls, crisps, party biscuits, Mr Kipling-style cakes, with veg sticks and hummus and fresh fruit if you want to please the parents.

Served on cake stands or nice crockery (depending on what you have available and are willing to let 9yos use!)

And obviously everyone needs to wear a hat.

This is where I think Pinterest is so helpful. Have a look at this or just type Mad Hatters tea party in and see what options come up.

Like previous poster said charity shop for tea cups then either put a catcus in them or re donate. Loads of easter decorations about so have a look at them, maybe make some decorations.

There's loads of Alice in Wonderland tea party stuff on Ebay/Etsy/Amazon/Allie Express etc
It was a bit spendy but I got some tiny cake stands with covers (so cup cake size - these were so cute), paper plates and cups, serviettes, serving dishes, confetti etc all branded up with Alice.

Food was just normal stuff really, so as some one else has said Jam sarnies cut into hearts, stawberries, juice served in tea pots, refresher sweets/love hearts, those elastic sweet bangles, cakes in tea cups (we had a lot of cake...) little bottles with drink me on the side for the juice, sandwiches on pretty tiered cake stands etc.

For us it wasn't so much the food that was 'Alice' it was the set up of the scene that made it Alice so we also had things like flamingos stuck into the garden, fairy lights, flowers, playing cards scattered on the table, Alice photo props.

As an activity we did 'fairy houses' - I got a selection of mugs from charity shops and picked up tiny decorative items from where ever I found them.

This is great thank you everyone. I've got 2 vintage tea sets from a charity shop and some Alice themed decorations.
Need to think about food now, I love the idea of mini Colin the caterpillar cakes.
Thinking about using cookie cutters to make sandwiches more interesting. Off to look at Pinterest for some more ideas.

I love Alice in Wonderland! I actually had a small teaparty at one point but mine was for adults. Asda has a range in at the moment with lots of table and cooking ware that may be good? I bought some last week.

Some ideas, if you've been on Pinterest I may just be repeating stuff you have already seen.

Jammy dodgers would be a nice easy one.

Pink wafer biscuits with purple icing stripes to make them cheshire cat themed.

Playing card checkerboard sandwiches.

Different themed cake pops? Serve the cake in large teacups maybe with ice cream. Or just fill the teacups with sweets on the table.

Give the non birthday guests a merry unbirthday card

Little cherry tomato and cheese made into little toadstools. Or maybe strawberry and marshmallow ones.

Mini pizzas or savoury pastries cut into shapes like rabbits, flamingos, flowers etc.

Milk bottles like these for juice, mocktails or milkshakes with drink me labels.
Bottles from The Range

Have them decorate and make their own mad hatter tophats.

Set up a game of croquet for them. You can get an Alice themed one on Amazon but it's £45 and you could probably make a version yourself fairly cheaply..

Ventured down the rabbit hole to the Mad Hatter's tea party and found myself immersed in a whimsical world of chaos and charm! The eccentricity of the characters, the mismatched tableware, and the endless cups of tea made for an unforgettable experience. Who knew that a tea party could be so delightfully mad?

Don't forget that crackle powder, I've forgotten what it's called, put that on cakes or something for extra pzazz.
