HELP - Fish dishes for a Sunday lunch ?????

Thomcat · 08/02/2008 21:05

Spoke to my brother yesterday and discovered we were both free on Sunday so said great get yourself over for lunch on sunday, yaaay.

He phones back 5 minutes later and says 'eeek sozza, forgot to say, yes love to come BUT not eating meat at the moment, giving it up for whole of Jan and Feb'.

No worries but we're such massive meat eaters I can't think what the bloody hell to make that'll work for a Sunday lunch type relaxed lunch that is fishy.

Don't want to go overboard fishy as DP isn't a huge fish fan and also my cousin and his missus are coming and my cousin is a bit of a fussy eater, as in he likes quite plain food.

How about some sort of 'salmon en croute' easy to shove in the oven and serve with pots and veg. M&S usually do something like that if you don't want to make it.

Jamie Oliver fish pie is lushy - cream and spinach makes it a bit special, but not too flavoursome for those plain eaters...

oh oh oh, yes fish pie, of course.
Perfect, spot on, love ya, xxxxxxxx

I would not try to please every one, it won't kill dh to eat fish for once so just do something fab like a bouillebaise type thing. So just make a light tomato and garlick-y and fennell-y sauce base and when they arrive put chunks of white fish and shell fish and cook it for about 7 minutes and serve it with loads of crusty bread.
