Today i made bread for the first time with with kids. It was lovely but a little bland and im keen to do it again with some added ingredients. Has anyone got any ideas for making it a little more interesting? Tia

Sounds as if you could do with a tad more salt in it - we all like white bread, but prefer half white flour and half granary.

I put old style granary bread mix as one of the cups. Would also like some good tips though!

I'm going to try hot cross buns with mine this week

I use the recipe in the booklet (Panasonic) and add a 15ml spoon of flour improver . Agree about the salt , this takes 2 teaspoons

I have some packs of SourDough BreadMix and I must say , I am underwhelmed .
I tried sime last night with some extra salt but it's still boring .
As Ive got a few to use up , I;m going to try adding chilli flakes+ chunks of cheddar or rosemary , olives and olive oil . See if I can improve on it .

I've bought some chipolate flakes and hallloumi to try and spice up my next batch. The kids wont touch it but if it's nice that might be a bonus!

Use 2% as much salt as there is flour in the recipe. The booklet recipes probably have reduced salt to be “healthy”.

You could add caraway, coriander or fennel seeds for a spicy aroma.

Sounds about right , I use 600g flour and 2 teaspoons salt which is about 12 g .

Definately gong to try some flavoured breads
I did one with grated cheese before ( it was ok , nothing to write home about ) . I think it needs chunks of cheddar .

Bread flavouring ( mind you I make sourdough)

Nigella seeds
Crush caraway and fennel seeds (fennel is sweeter and milder)
Chilli
Herbs du Provence
Oregano
Caramelised onion
Sundried tomatoes and basil
Garlic confit
Different types of seeds

yes to what @BlackForestCake said, salt is 2% of weight of flour
