Corncord grape jelly substitute?

Any American Mumsnetters on here? I'm looking at a recipe on the NewYork Times which uses Concord grape jelly. What can I substitute? I've got a jar of cranberry sauce left over from Christmas. Could I use that? Not sure if the flavour would be similar...

Not American but I would suggest blackcurrant jam (if it's a sweet recipe) and maybe redcurrant jelly if it's a savoury.

It's a savoury ribs recipe. Redcurrant jelly is a good shout. Not cranberry then?

I'd use redcurrant tbh as the consistency is much better for a glaze / marinade. :-)

Redcurrant jelly is closer than cranberry sauce, but cranberry sauce will be absolutely fine. Concord grape jelly is sweet and clear - no bits or lumps. It's a staple childhood ingredient, not at all fancy or specialist. Something like cheap strawberry jam - Hartley's? - might even be getting close!

I make grape jelly in uk

I'd go to redcurrant or blackberry jam.
