Hi all I have pork mince needing to be used but I'm not sure what to make? I've tried it in Bolognese but didn't taste as good as mince. Any ideas I would be grateful for Smile

If you have a Chinese supermarket near you we make gyoza. Bloody delicious!

Pork and apple burgers..

minipie · 09/01/2023 15:11

I also use it in bolognese but use 2/3 beef and 1/3 pork. Really nice

Also with chillies, Thai basil and fish sauce (and garlic obvs) over rice. Google a recipe.

Burgers with finely chopped black pudding and haggis if you like that sort of thing. Yum.

Thai style patties with spring onion, ginger and chilli are also good.

CallieQ · 09/01/2023 15:21

Pork mince chilli is good

This is good, you can play around with the vegetables and use up whatever you have.

Crispy pork pho
Crispy pork stir fry
Thai curry
Thai patties
Thai lettuce cups

Can you spot the theme? We love Thai food and pork mince is so versatile.

I also do a really nice pork and fennel ragu

Mix with mince to make meatballs. Use Thai spices and herbs to make little meatballs with just pork mince.

Talipesmum · 09/01/2023 15:46

Totally agree with the Thai suggestions.

Also really recommend this - it’s stupidly easy and quick and v tasty. You can obviously leave out the black beans or various garnish bits if you have kids who would be fussy.

The Gousto stir fried pork mince recipes are delicious. A bit like this:

There are loads of variations online of this sort of recipe. They are fuss free and very quick too.

Iceberg wrappers are really quick.

Pinch of Nom dirty macaroni is amazing and uses pork mince - if you google you will find a link :)

babyboybluewithtwox · 09/01/2023 16:41

Grate some fresh ginger, chop some garlic and chilli, add to mince and fry. Then add some hoisin and soy sauce so it goes slightly crispy. Make some rice and add some sesame seeds and chopped spring onion at the end... delicious 😊

loupielou1 · 09/01/2023 17:00

Thanks all some really great ideas that I will try. As I don't have all the ingredients for some of these recipes I've chose to do the dirty macaroni but love the other ideas so will definitely do them soon if I get my beef minced substituted for pork again lol

@minipie thanks for that caramalised pork recipe. I do a similar version of that at home with noodles that always goes down well and I use lime juice and soy sauce to make a bit of sauce and make it look better, but the idea of using sugar to caramelise it is genius and I'm definitely going to give it a go. Will also add fish sauce as I always forget that as it's not a standard ingredient for me. So thanks!
