we are having an economy drive so have stopped buying the lovely fruit bars from the health food shop

but am alarmed by amount of golden syrup/ butter that went into today's flapjackian efforts

hmm....our flapjacks contained 4oz butter (unsalted, because I prefer that, lol) and 8oz of oats, 2 ounce of demera sugar (although stated brown sugar, but didn't have) and 2 tbsp of syrup, aittle bit of salt (but forgot, lol)and that was it...and they came out all nice and crunchy, rather then greasy...

but will find you, tomorrow, another lovely recipe along thses lines, which uses muesli....

Adding to threads I am on as I am shocked at how much sugar are in some of my baking recipes.

is 2 oz sugar/2 tbl golden syrup really that much?

That is prob okay. Some of mine have a lot more sugar but I have started putting less in.

Cappucino, I just realised that the recipe actually uses a fair bit of sugar...however....they are quite sweet, so, some sugar can easily be left out, I think the amount could be halfed, tbh.

125g unsalted Butter
200g Sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp Vanilla essence
225g Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
150g dry Muesli
150g Chocolate drops

Beat Butter and Sugar together, add the egg and beat together, add Vanilla Essence, Baking Powder. The mix teh salt and cinnamon into the Flour and add to the mixture. Mix all together to make a dough, and then add the Muesli and chocolatedrops and mix together.

Grease a square Baking tin (22cmx30cm)( I usually use a Roasting Tin for this). Fill the Dough into the greased tin and press on and bake in a preheated oven at 175 degree celsius (Fan assisted oven 155degree celsius, Gas 2-3)for ca. 20-25 minutes. (The cake should be golden brown and raise a little). Let stand to cool down then cut into small squares or rectangles.

If you want to you could melt some chocolate, and dip half of the squares/rectangles into the melted chocolate

Probably not as healthy as you would like.
YOu could probably also use Molasses instead of sugar (that is meant to be healthier)
