Mini food processor

So I have a Magimix food processor, the biggest one, which I use lots. Especially when batch cooking. However on a daily basis there are frequent times when I would use the smallest bowl but I don't want the washing up for just one small thing. So I'm thinking of getting a mini food processor too as I know it will also be used lots. Two questions!

  1. Is this greedy?!
  2. Anybody any recommendations on the Cuisinart, kitchen aid or Magimix one? Or any others? I want one that can go in the dishwasher and that can chop, puree, grind.

Thank you!

I have the mini kenwood one which I only really use for breadcrumbs, chopping onions and spice pastes. Since feel it’s useful and would replace even though I have the big Magimix.

I also have a mini Kenwood which has a stick blender attachment too and it is the most used gadget in my kitchen.

Thanks for the recommendations - can you do purees in the Kenwood one? I had a similar model but different brand a few years ago but it always leaked when making baby food

I have the mini Kitchenaid one, it's really good. Had a Kenwood one before but the Kitchenaid is much better. Easy to keep clean and chops well.

I have the kitchenaid one. It's quite good. I mostly grind nuts in it.

Whatthediddlyfeck · 07/01/2023 20:57

I have the mini Kenwood one in addition to my big magimix and use both. I can’t fairly comment on reliability of new ones these days as mine is 20+ years old!

Greycloudspinkclouds · 08/01/2023 20:36

@Whatthediddlyfeck great, makes me feel less greedy about needing both!

@Craghopper1 and @StiggyZardust does the kitchenaid one work without leaking with liquids, like a thin puree kind of texture? And have found it okay with regular washing in the dishwasher or does it need to be washed by hand?

It's never leaked. I make a lot of curry pastes in mine without any issues. Goes in the dishwasher every time.

Greycloudspinkclouds · 08/01/2023 21:28

Thank you @StiggyZardust , I'm going to go for the kitchenaid one !

It's fine with liquid and I bung it all in the dishwasher and it copes with that.

paintitallover · 08/01/2023 22:07

Why is it less washing up than the small bowl of the magimix plus the lid?

Greycloudspinkclouds · 08/01/2023 23:38

@Craghopper1 thank you!

@paintitallover because the small bowl of the Magimix still has the lid which is big and in four parts. Plus I don't put the Magimix in the dishwasher. It gets used several times a week but there are times when it isn't worth the washing up and a mini one would be!

Ah I see. Thanks. I have the magimix so I was curious!

Shopaholic100 · 01/02/2023 10:16

Does it chop them finely? I’m thinking of getting the kitchen aid one too but need it to do finely chopped almonds for curry recipes.

greenacrylicpaint · 01/02/2023 10:22

I have bullet type attachments for my (bosch mum) kitchen machine.

those are great for smaller amounts (pesto, chopping parmesan, spice grinding).

Greycloudspinkclouds · 01/02/2023 13:35

@Shopaholic100 yes it chops very finely! I love it. It's powerful and chops quickly and efficiently. Blade is really sharp. You can control the chopping speed and pulse to get the nuts how you want them.
