What can I do with a tub of pre-made custard?

I really don’t like it poured on puddings. I know a sane person would whip up a crumble

i do like custard flavour though- set in a trifle, eggy puddings, etc.

anything I can do with it before it goes out of date?

Bread and butter pudding, easy trifle - raspberries set in jelly, custard on top and sprinkles / whipped cream over the top.

GerbilsForever24 · 03/01/2023 17:10

I just eat it out the tub, so probably not that helpful to you! Grin

DialsMavis · 03/01/2023 17:12

Definitely bread and butter pudding. With croissants and damson jam if you are feeling particularly gluttonous

GoodbyeLondon · 03/01/2023 17:16

I'm with gerbil I'm ashamed to say 😂.

If you're more civilized than I am then trifle maybe? Or bread and butter pudding as suggested^^

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/01/2023 17:23

Yeah, sorry. Like previous posters I have no better idea than 'eat it out of the tub.' Banana custard?

GoldenCagedBird · 03/01/2023 17:37

thanks! Just made an amaretto soaked bread and butter pudding with a leftover loaf that was on the turn

didn’t put 2 and 2 together

My dh has a passion for custard and chopped bananas

ODFOx · 03/01/2023 19:29

Premade custard beaten into mascarpone makes an amazing trifle or 'tiramisu-ish' topping.

TellMeWhere · 03/01/2023 19:32

Eat with a spoon, straight from the fridge.

Lulu2171 · 03/01/2023 19:34

Drink it. Yum.

DPotter · 03/01/2023 19:35

custard and cornflakes - yum!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/01/2023 19:38

One layer of plain biscuits, one layer of custard, one layer of grated chocolate. Repeat. Leave in fridge for a few hours.

You can mix the custard with some whipped cream, but I generally don't bother.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/01/2023 19:39

Oh, sliced bananas might be a nice addition as well.

It's too late for you now, OP, but should you ever find yourself with surplus custard again, you might like to try making a River Cottage "fumble" - basically just fruit fool crossed with crumble. There's a recipe here. The "independent crumble" is really delicious - in fact, I can't stop eating it straight off the baking tray Blush - and the stewed fruit (I used some rhubarb from the freezer) allows you to pretend that you're being healthy Grin
