Are baked oats supposed to taste like overcooked porridge

I don’t know if I’m just expecting too much, but when I see pictures on recipe sites/videos I expect them to be somewhere between a muffin and a flapjack, not just a solid slab of overcooked porridge.

I’ve tried a few different recipes over the years. and each time I’ve been disappointed. This is the latest recipe I’ve tried, but I left out the cinnamon.

Can anyone recommend any recipes? Or are they all like that?

Not sloppy like porridge but soft and slightly chewy?

They always look nice in pictures, but remind me of the burnt bottom of an over cooked porridge pot.
I love porridge, so just save myself the bother of baked oats and have that, and if I fancy cake I have cake.

They never seem to turn out a nice soft and chewy texture, but exactly as @Jinglecrunch describes it!

I’ve been trying out some ‘freezer friendly’ cooked breakfast ideas, as I’m so sick of the usual stuff/getting out pots and pans and just end up having a few coffees instead.

Next up is egg casserole, though I’m skeptical about the texture of reheated egg…

I make porridge in the microwave, doesn't take long. Or you can get porridge pots.
I'm not a big fan of overnight oats or baked oats or anything like that, but have made some nice eggy things. One with salmon, broccoli and cheese in it, and another was a Spanish omelette type thing with paprika, onion and cooked potato in it.
