Anyone else find themselves repulsed by the gluttony of Christmas?

I know this is probably 'my' problem to deal with, but just interested to know others' thoughts and feelings. For context, I consider us a fairly normal family - not overweight, no eating disorders, live mostly healthy lifestyles etc

BUT over the Christmas period everyone except me seems to become completely gluttonous, and it makes me feel rather sick to observe it really!

  • filling plates with 2-3times normal food amounts
  • puddings at every meal and going back for seconds
  • constantly grazing on massive bowls of chocolates, nuts, crisps left everywhere
  • picking at leftovers in the fridge in between meals - DH has been really one for this it seems - I found him standing in the kitchen this morning about 10.30 chewing on a massive slab of gammon he'd cut off the leftover roast in the fridge - no sandwich, no plate, just him standing there, gnawing away like a dog on a bone! We'd only finished cooked breakfast less than an hour earlier. Hmm
It's as if they can't help themselves. If they see food they want it. Like toddlers in a pick & mix sweet shop. Thing is, there just doesn't seem to be much enjoyment around it - they're all complaining about indigestion and I know they'll spend the whole of January whinging about needing to lose weight.

I am not at home for Christmas or New Year this year, but I do not care for most of the food adverts at all.
Mind you, where I am staying there is a weight reduction option - you would not be surprised to know that the people on this option are the ones hoovering up every meal as soon as the buffet is open. Come along even 15 minutes later and thw pickings are slim. This will go in my review of the place, too.
Good thing I am here for the massages, not the food!

Stop observing it then, it’s weird. I prefer not to overindulge but I don’t care what others do, and I don’t sit and watch making note of who has eaten what and when.

I think that's the point of Xmas. I love having a huge pig out, especially when its food I dont often eat. That's why you wear pants with some give? It's ok once a year I reckon. Plus to me, I also think leftovers so everyone doesn't have to cook for a couple of days. I'm more disturbed by the gluttony of gifts (in general).

Nobody in my family does that. You’re not the only one who isn’t a glutton. Maybe it isn’t a good idea for your family to have these massive bowls of chocolates and crisps everywhere. Why provide them if you don’t want people eating them? Or were you somewhere else for Christmas?

I like the idea of a feat but just can’t do it. I find it a bit gross

I don't care what anyone eats over the Christmas holidays. What does annoy me is the people who over indulged talking about going on a diet on 1st January and we have the same conversation every year. It's boring.

You decide what you put in your mouth. Other people have the same privilege with regard to theirs.
