Best brand/company for pots and pans

I just got a new kitchen installed and have been holding out to buy new cookware for years. I want to invest a bit (not crazy money!) on a good set (or separates) of frying pan/sauté pan/multi purpose. Not sure if 2 or 3 pans needed! Any time I’ve bought in the past (usually Jamie Oliver Tefal or John Lewis) they are good for a few months and then deteriorate.

I’ve seen the Our Place range on Instagram and while it looks lovely I feel you’re probably paying a huge premium for the marketing/colours etc.

Can anyone recommend a good pan or set of pans?

This thread is a bit old now, but if you're looking for guidance on which kitchenware to buy, we’ve recently refreshed our best wok, best frying pan and best saucepan guides with plenty of high-quality products recommended by Mumsnetters. We hope you find them useful.

I have had Le Cruset pans for nearly 30 years and still going strong. My daughter keeps asking me for them, they are getting a bit heavy for me and will go to her eventually

Buy from Nisbets they sell mainly to catering industry so stuff made to be resilient.

Steele’s

Le creuset non stick. I have tried very hard but can't make anything stick or burn onto them.

I have a GreenPan Barcelona deep casserole. Not had it long but I bloody love it.

I've got Prestige 30 year guarantee stainless steel. Not sure if they are still available. A friend swears by the Finnish brand of Hackman.

Meyer. Had mine 16 years and they still look fab and clean well. Mine can be used across electric, gas and induction (induction was much less popular years ago and so happy I didn't have to replace them when I got an induction hob).

We have Stellar pans, which I think I saw recommended on here years ago, and I will say they have been an excellent choice.

Stellar and le creuset. Had mine for 30 years, clean up a treat.

We have a couple of fissler pans we got from TK Maxx which are fantastic, good stainless steel. Otherwise tbh IKEA do good pans - we've got a few from there!

ExcusesExcuses · 22/12/2022 18:13

le creuset. We have the sterling silver and they're very sturdy and easy to clean

Prestige copper bottomed pans. Had mine 30 years, along with my two Le Creuset casseroles.

I also bought an especially wonderful pan from John Lewis a few years ago. Non-stick and it has a glass straining lid (holes in the side of a deep lid) so you can strain vegetables out of it without using a colander. And non-stick so you can make a cheese sauce in it. Incredibly handy.

Stainless - Stellar 7000
Non stick I'm not sure but have just bought a Circulon pan to see if it outlasts the supermarket ones.
Casserole- cast iron, I don't think there's much difference between brands though, I have quite a cheap one which has served well. More important to get the right size, about 4-4.5 litres is good for a family.

Also if you can bear it, I think keeping nonstick pans out of the dishwasher prolongs their life.

cudbywestrangers · 22/12/2022 18:21

Our analon non stick saucepans are 15 years old and still in really good condition. I also have a le creuset milk pan that was my grandmother's- really good but heavy!

newtb · 22/12/2022 18:22

De Buyer pans, really good and heavy.
If you take the little plastic logo out of the handle they'll fit in the oven.

Smorgs · 22/12/2022 18:25

Circulon non stick pans are amazing quality

bellylaughs · 22/12/2022 23:40

Thanks for all the suggestions. Love the idea of heirloom Le Creuset 😍

@bellylaughs Without a doubt, Tefal all the way! All my frying pans, wok, and saucepans are Tefal, and they NEVER stick! The only problem is that the original bolts which hold the handle to the pan, are made of ordinary steel, so they rust & seize up. I replace the bolts in all my pans with stainless steel ones (from eBay). I use M5 x 22mm long stainless steel bolts with Torx heads.
