There is a very nice rotisserie type place on the green near the tube station - or it was the last time I went there which was about two years ago.

Rotisserie has now gone! There's quite a few good restaurants in the Bush I think but depends how far you want to stray from TVC. In Uxbridge Road: fantastic Thai (Esarn Kheaw). Very cheap and not bad at all very small Italian (Gioia Mia). Polish restaurant on the Green - good Polish food, not very good English food, not much choice, but full of BBC types . Slightly further on on the Goldhawk Road is Bush Bar and Grill. Was pretty good and was/is pretty trendy but I haven't been for a while. Not the cheapest. Blah Blah Blah is an award winning veggie restaurant on Goldhawk Road also but I've personally never been.

I could go on but then would mean going slightly further into the depths of the Bush....

I've eaten in Blah Blah Blah, it was years ago though. The food was lovely but the menu very limited. It's cafe style and at the time was unlicensed but you could take your own wine.

Gorgeous French restaurant called Balzac just a little way down Wood Lane, but as I say this was years ago and I don't know if it's still there.

froot - I used to live in Shepherds Bush a few years ago when dh and I were 'footloose and fancyfree'. We ate out loads and loved the inexpensive, differnt restaurants around. I must recommend the Patio and suggested by monkeygirl, we loved it and we had never had polish before. It has great write up by many food reviewers and remains one of the best of it's kind in London.

Oh and we loved the atmosphere in Gioia Mia. Loved it!
This brings back fond memories.....

Ok thinking cap on. Shepherd's Bush Road has Snows on the Green - modern english-type food which was quite enjoyable. Also a Cafe rouge down there - you probably know what you are getting there.

Askew Road - excellent North African - it's a (small) cafe in the day but very nicely decorated and gorgeous tangines etc in the evening. Couple who run it are lovely also. Tapas bar/Spanish restaurant on Askew Road is meant to be quite good but I've never been.

There are some Lebanese restaurants on the Uxbridge Road but again I haven't been (comes with having kids I guess - don't get to go out much).

The Brackenbury in Brackenbury Village (near enough to W12 although I think it has a W6 postcode I think) is meant to be very reputable but again I've not been and when we did look at the menu (modern British) it was relatively expensive.

The Balzac is still there but I've never been.

The Crown and Sceptre is a good gastro-pub - usual posh pub grub.

Can you tell I like my food . Must go pick up my dd now but if I think of any more will let you know.

I will second the Tapas on Askew road

jane313 · 03/12/2004 12:41

Brackenbury is great so is Blah Blah Blah. It could definitely convert non veggies to veggie food. You would have to book though. Everyone raves about Esarn Kheaw but I wasn't that impressed and the Bush bar and Grill was very overpriced and pathetic portions; nice cocktails though. There was a nice gastro pub I went to last Christmas but I can't remember the name of it.

I forgot about the Tapas restaurant. It is fantastic - I ate there many many times. Run by a smashing couple called Rosa and Michael.

foxinsocks · 03/12/2004 17:34

Snows is lovely - had a fantastic meal there (can't remember the prices though!)

SilentBite · 04/12/2004 15:23

Yes the tapas place is great tho haven't been there for years. How about the Havelock (gastroish pub) in Olympia (Masbro Rd I think) or that steak place, the Pope's Eye or the italian Cotto, both in Blythe Rd. All within 5/10 mins walk of the Bush

Well it was last night and it was one of the most enjoyable nights of my entire life!!

Jonathan Ross was fantastic and we ate at Gioia Mia, excellent meal (smoked salmon and caviar, venison with gnocci, and homemade profiteroles - all three courses for £9.50, how do they do it??!!) and a great atmosphere.

So thanks for the recommendation - and I would recommend going to watch jonathan ross!!
