Cooking temp/time on air fryer?

Derbybound2022 · 19/12/2022 20:54

I just recently got an air fryer. I just wanted to know if I am supposed to adjust the temperature and time to cook for things as they are supposed to cook quicker?
So say I cook chicken nuggets that normally need 15 minutes at 200 in the fan oven do they need less time or different temperature in air fryer?

What time/temp do you put roast potatoes on?

Thank you!

I generally go down 20 degrees and take 25% off cooking time.

Im so glad you asked as I have been wondering too. Half expecting air fryer times to appear on packaging soon!

It does vary slightly between different models of air fryer but 20% less temp and 20% less time is a good starting point. I have been making cheese scones recently - just for the experiment obviously, but they are lovely.

It's a bit of trial and error.

I cook at the same temperature but for half / three quarters of the time.

Agree that airfryer cooking instructions need to go on packaging.

There's a calculator on here that works pretty well for me using fan oven temp

My Ninja Foodi says to reduce the time by 25%. However, I did (frozen) roast potatoes at the weekend and they take 30 mins in the oven. I did then for 20 as suggested in the guide you get with it mins and the largest ones weren’t cooked through. I did them more another 5 mins and they still weren’t completely done (smaller ones were fine) so you have to check things carefully I think.

Im just going trial and error at the moment and only finding it a little quicker

I'm wondering about temperature too as they are in a smaller space obviously being cooked.
