Major sort out of cupboards have unearthed two boxed puds from M&S !
They are 12 and 24 months out of date.
Would you risk it ?
It seems such a waste not to try 🤷‍♀️

Try the youngest one first?

If it's ok then try the other!

tonsattingforbjudes · 18/12/2022 18:22

Definitely worth trying and I suspect it will be absolutely delicious. I've enjoyed 7 year old (home made) Christmas pud in the past.

ElfDragon · 18/12/2022 18:24

It’s surely a best before date, rather than a use by?

I’d give it a go, tbh, as long as packaging still sealed where it should be.

KnickerlessParsons · 18/12/2022 18:25

I think they get better with age. I'd inject some alcohol it fruit juice I think, in case they're a bit dry.

justasking111 · 18/12/2022 18:25

That's a relief found one too expired March 22.

TheDutchHouse · 18/12/2022 18:25

Ahh thank you , would you feed it with a drop or two of alcohol in case it's a bit dry ?
I don't own a microwave so would have to boil it

Have you seen how much a matured pudding costs.

Go for it.

DH has form for hiding Christmas puddings. Some have been close to a single malt upon their rediscovery. He is still very much alive.

LubaLuca · 18/12/2022 18:27

You'd pay a premium for a matured pud in the supermarket! I deliberately bought my little Xmas cake with the shortest date so it would be more matured when I eat it (the specifically 'matured' ones with the same recipe cost £1 more 😄).

They'll be fine, but I agree with starting with the youngest one as a QC exercise.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 18/12/2022 18:31

I’d eat both.

I’ve got some Heston mince pies from two years ago that I’m considering…

Moon22 · 18/12/2022 19:09

I would definitely eat it!

TheSandgroper · 18/12/2022 22:57

Christmas puddings are like fine wine. Buy them cheap, put them down for a few years and eat when perfect.

We've got one in the cupboard with a best before date of April 2018, think it might have been bought for Christmas 2016 and it was a three year matured one. It'll be either delicious or rancid.
