Bloody Hell!

Have just seen these advertised on TV

Looks like a plastic pot of dishwasher salt or something

It's full of 'powder' that you fill with water (from the tap!) and SHAKE

Pour into pan for instant pancakes. I mean, REALLY...

i can't elieve people use it. Its the simplest recipe in the world - I remember making up the batter myself waiting for my mum to come in when I was about 8.
Its packaging and ready meals gone mad!!!!

Bleurgh.

My mom used to use it - worse, she used to get her sister to post it to her from the US.
I use Nigella'a American pancake recipe.

Pancakes are soooo simple anyway - the boys now ask for them for brekkie most days . Got some batter ready in the fridge for tomorrow.......(if there's time!)

RGPargy · 03/02/2008 21:44

So erm... how DO you make pancakes... ??

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/02/2008 21:44

Rosa - could you post the recipe please ?

TIA

Am not surprised that pancake mixes exist.

Sigh

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 03/02/2008 21:46

Nigella's recipe
Easy-peasy if you have a blender.

laura032004 · 03/02/2008 21:47

In M&S you could get ready made pancakes last year!

I do my simplest crepe pannies like this:

125g plain flour
2 tsp egg replacer powder
300mls soymilk

put the flour and e.r. in a large mixing bowl and gradually whisk in the milk till frothy. A few lumps don't matter.

You can leave to sit for 30 mins or use right away:

Pour just enough to coat the bottom (swirl around) in to a non stick pan. No fat needed with non stick. Cook for about a minute or untill bubbles appear and it is golden underneath, then flip and cook till golden on that side too.
