The whole batch of Chilli is too spicy

Shit. What can i do to rescue this? I've made a large batch of chilli and it's too spicy. To one portion i added milk and ketchup (google said that dairy and acidity helps) but it just made it taste crap and is still too spicy. I'd really hate to waste so much food.

Natural yogurt

boboshmobo · 11/12/2022 18:59

Gravy granules ?

Hopeful16 · 11/12/2022 18:59

Add more beans and/or tomatoes???

Or just serve it with sour cream - which I love anyway.

SchrodingersKettle · 11/12/2022 19:00

I'd let it down with more kidney beans and tomato. And serve it with loads of rice.

GingerPigz · 11/12/2022 19:00

Potatoes... and also found this:

OkPedro · 11/12/2022 19:00

I've used a drop of milk when I've made chilli to spicy

Merlott · 11/12/2022 19:00

Freeze in half portions.

Make a second barch with no spice.

Freeze that in half portions.

When eating.. take out 1 box of each and mix to make normal...!

Try adding sugar
More tinned tomatoes

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 11/12/2022 19:01

Can you put sour cream or yoghurt to serve with it, or mashed avocado? It all helps. Maybe serve less chilli with more side dishes so it is less dominant, and freeze what's left for later.

Next time you could make a small amount of meat sauce without the chilli and mix the plain tomato version with the chilli version so it's the right level of heat.

OkPedro · 11/12/2022 19:01

Sorry I see you've used milk 🙄
Maybe add more?

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 11/12/2022 19:01

I put natural yoghurt in my portion when the rest of the family have chilli con carne to calm it down.
I also drink milk with it rather than water based drinks

I have been told to put chunks of potatoes in it and reheat until the chunks of potatoes are cooked but not tried that

AlisonDonut · 11/12/2022 19:02

Dollop of mayo and grated cheese on top as you serve.

WingBingo · 11/12/2022 19:02

Make some more, less chilli, and mix it up. No waste then.

figmaofmyimagination · 11/12/2022 19:02

Make another batch with no spice at all.
Mix together and then freeze in portions.

McConkeysPlate · 11/12/2022 19:03

Add sugar

SummerHouse · 11/12/2022 19:03

I heard sweetness works, so honey or sugar?

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 11/12/2022 19:04

Bung a load of cream or mayo into it.

MajorCarolDanvers · 11/12/2022 19:04

Divide in half and add an extra rim of tomato's to each.

This is genius!

I don't have enough ingredients to do it this time but I respect the ingenuity.

Thank you people, i'm going to try a few of your suggestions. I have tinned tomatoes and more kidney beans, cheese, probably other bits and bobs suggested too so will try tomorrow.

Sugar. It kills the heat. Start with half a tea spoon and work up.

PritiPatelsMaker · 11/12/2022 20:52

I'm DF so milk and yoghurt are out so I use lime juice instead.

LakeFlyPie · 11/12/2022 20:57

Don't keep adding loads of random dairy, sugar, citrus juice, ketchup etc which weren't in the original recipe or it'll all be inedible!
More tomatoes and beans to dilute the original batch will work (but you'll have loads more - which may be a good thing if you have freezer space or potential recipients)

Notcreative · 12/12/2022 23:06

Yes to mayo, but I'd eat that with anything whatever...

Verite1 · 12/12/2022 23:23

I would add more tomatoes/passata and then cook it down for a while

U1sce · 12/12/2022 23:26

Sugar works

allboysherebutme · 12/12/2022 23:33

Natural yogurt. X
