Hosting my 4 year olds first party next week. One of his friends is allergic to eggs, nuts and milk products. Also the family don't eat meat.
Can anyone help me out what I can serve please?
Was hoping to do pizza and some picky bits crisps, cucumber, strawberries etc.
minimum effort ideal please

It's nice of you to accommodate us hen. I usually provide DD's when she goes to parties, she has multiple allergies. When we host we do veggie/vegan pizzas, crisps, biscuits (lots of options with those restrictions), veggies and hummus, mini wraps with falafel, salad, olives, toasted pittas.

*accommodate his friend not us hen!

Buy a vegan pizza for the child with allergies and some vegan cupcakes. Make sure any sweets in party bag are suitable.

upfucked · 10/12/2022 09:04

lots of biscuits are suitable - party ring and bourbons.

So basically vegan and nut free?

say to the parents that you are planning to do pizza, crisps etc and does he have any favourites you could get for him.

a lot of 'free from' foods taste terrible and people who have to use them tend to have very clear brand preferences etc and can find alternatives inedible, better to ask than to end up buying something specially that the child won't eat.

the parents will also be reassured that you are getting something they already know is safe.

Wicked products from Tesco are often but free, and they're nice.

The biggest failure we get is when people provide 'free from' cupcakes that are only gluten free but not milk or egg free.

Pizza with vegan ( violife cheese) will be fine

Mist supermarkets do a Free From range - a vegan pizza would cover egg and milk issues.

Similarly vegan biscuits, but you will need to carefully check all labels to ensure nothing has a 'may contain nuts' warning.

Best thing would be too ask his mum what she recommends, and to see how bad his allergies are.

DisforDarkChocolate · 10/12/2022 09:14

Firstly check how allergic, then ask what he likes.

As a parent of a child with an intolerance I always appreciated people asking, I'd always bring snacks too.

warmmfeet · 10/12/2022 09:16

Thanks all. I know he was blue lighted in the summer because he ate a veggie sausage with egg in it. They are quite bad allergies I think, more than an intolerance.

Thanks I feel more confident and equipped with what to do now!

My son had these allergies at that age - I wouldn't expect anyone to cater for him, I took a lunchbox - TBH I preferred it as I knew exactly what was in it.

But if you want to cater for them - vegan pizza is a good shout, jam sandwiches, vegan cheese sandwiches (though check the bread for milk), lots of biscuits are vegan (e.g. I think party rings), crisps are usually fine (but again check for milk)

QueenOfWeeds · 10/12/2022 09:18

Most big supermarkets seem to do a little two pack of vegan cupcakes in their bakery section - would that be an option instead of cake for that child?

If you plan on serving pizza Dr oetker margherita would tick the boxes. Bu5 I'd certainly recommend talking to mum. See where she lies on products that say 'may contain traces of' and think about cross contamination. Fruit and veg are fine as long as no risk of contamination. There's lots of crisp options, original pringles, Sainsbury's salt and vinegar chipsticks, Walkers ready salted crisps.
