Indian dinner party ideas

I'm going to an Indian dinner party and need to cook a dish.

I'm a competent-ish cook but also don't want anything too complicated. Every so often I'll attempt a curry recreation I like from the local Indian though it probably isn't 100% authentic.

Looking for easy-medium difficulty recipes and ideas 🙂

I would do a Brinjal Bhaji.

Sag paneer is easy and really nice.

Chickpea curry, can be eaten with small naan breads or rice, or I make it and have samosas with it. 9f I'm having it with samosas though I don't make it too liquidy-y.
Chilli paneer, its more of an indo-chinese fusion dish and many variations of it but very tasty.

Sag paneer is easy and really nice.

Is the main difference between this and saag aloo cheese paneer versus potatoes? I see spinach is a key ingredient in both.

Yes paneer is the cheese.

My go to for any Indian recipes are Meera Sodha, Monica Haldar (The Spice Club), and Chetna Makan. All give consistently good results and are fairly accessible - very few of their recipes use difficult techniques or speciality ingredients. If you can advise on the below it might help me recommend a recipe.

Can you could give a general idea of what you like to eat, or wish to bring?
Do you know what others are taking? (don't want to be the third chana masala)
Does it need to be vegetarian or can you take meat dishes?

Veg samosa with mint pickle-, easy crowd pleaser

Use filo pastry and bake rather than fry. Then you can cook them fresh at the venue

I'd do the Dishoom chicken Ruby and gunpowder potatoes if you're taking it along with you. If I was hosting I'd do a big batch of all different pakoras too but I don't think they would travel well. Maybe make up some spiced onions to scoop up with poppadoms?

Hmm not sure why the links aren't working but just Google them and they will come up 👍
