I'm planning to bung it in a stew/curry thing - do I need to boil it or something first?

I thought there would be instructions on the packet, only there isn't.

Yu need to hydrate it first.
Boil a kettle, place soya in a bowl and pour hot water over it. Leave for up to 5(??) minutes.

I usually put mine in a fine-ish sieve then and squeeze the water through by pushing down with a spoon.

I don't use the water that was used to hydrate it?

If the meal I'm bunging it in with is fairly wet, can I just use that water to hydrate it?

I think it needs to be boiling water. Also I find the water used to hydrate the soya has a bit of an odd smell so I prefer to drain it.

Also you can see how dramatically it swells in a separate container!

Thanks, it came out well. I didn't use that much, but the curry was a big hit, particularly with the spare child.
