Transporting a hot casserole dish

My mum has an aga and has kindly said when I visit I should bring a pot and make use for our dinner. I'm eager to do this, but how to do I transport the cast iron casserole dish in my car when it's hot?

She looks after my DD 3 days a week so it would be perfect to bring home a hot dinner

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe a special cover?

Wrap it in a towel inside a cardboard box (I use fruit/veg ones from the supermarket)

Cardboard box packed with hay (get a bag from a pet shop). Make a little hole in it, line with a towel, pop the dish in and hay over the top. It will keep warm for hours (and actually keep cooking) that way.

Find a cardboard box which the dish will sit snuggly in from a supermarket and put a pile of newspapers on the bottom; pack newspaper around the sides to stop it moving. Then strap the box in with a seatbelt.

You can get thermal crock pot bags too.

Can't you use a dish of your mother's and transfer into clippy container wrapped in a towel. Surely much safer and easier.

I agree it's safer to transfer to a clip lock or secure container for the journey.

Do you have a cool bag or box? If so I'd wrap the casserole dish in a towel, then pop it in the cool box/bag then stand it in the footwell of the car.
