Ninja Foodi Max - anyone have one?

I bought the all bells and whistles Ninja Foodi 15-in-1 cooker earlier this week - my thinking was healthier meals and less energy usage. I'm not sure if I've made a terrible mistake! This thing is a behemoth on my kitchen counter (looks like a cross between R2D2 and a Henry hoover) and is so bloody complicated (and I'm quite a practical person)! There are seemingly no decent UK cookbooks and the recipe selection which came with it is really limited. As for energy efficiency, not much difference to oven/grill according to my smart meter (although I appreciate it takes less time overall). So... does anyone have one and if so, do you love it? It was £300 and I'm really tempted to box it all back up and return it!

#Tumbleweed# It does cook roast potatoes surprisingly well! Also beige freezer food (as you don’t need to pre-heat) but is that enough to keep it!

Snap. I think it is a steep learning curve. I used the recipe book last night and made salmon fillets with Asian vegetables. It was quickly cooked and delicious but it took me a long time to work out how and where everything went in. I’m sticking with it.

I've bought the dual max as I felt it might be a bit easier to grapple with having the separate drawers. There are groups on Facebook with loooooooads of tried and tested recipes. I'm sure there will be for the 15 in 1.

I love mine, had the 9 in 1 then upgraded to the 15. Downside is, this one is really noisy - is yours?

there are some brilliant FB groups which are way more helpful than the recipe book - ninja foodi & grill UK and Ninja Foodi Community are two I’m in. I barely use my oven now altho that’s party due to this being easier to clean haha

Thanks all. I need to find the FB groups (thanks @Petridish for the suggestions) and yes, it is really noisy! I can live with that though.

I tried YouTube but keep getting US sites with a different version of the Foodi. I think I need to bite the bullet and keep trying new things, even though the pressure cook function terrifies me a bit.

I've never had a pressure cooker due to the irrational fear that it will somehow explode!

I'm in a similar position OP, only mine is the 9 in 1. It's still bloody enormous though and I have a weeny kitchen. It's currently sat on the corner of the worktop, looking pretty ugly and taking up a load of space.

I did make fajitas in it last night and am going to attempt something yet to be decided for dinner tonight. I've looked at recipe books on Amazon but the reviews aren't great so maybe a FB group would be better.

Roast chicken tonight which was lovely. Takes ages to work out all the programming etc but worth it and I think things will get quicker

petridishmystery · 13/11/2022 08:22

The pressure cooker does make me nervous when I use it but there’s loads of safety measures built into them these days!

Handsnotwands · 13/11/2022 08:50

I love ours. Yes to the Facebook groups. I just search those for whatever I’m cooking and someone will have posted how to do it :)

I recently bought the 9 in 1. Have only used it a couple of times so far and I’m sure that once I can be bothered to sit down and study the booklet I’ll become a bit more adventurous with it. It’s just so bloody big! Everywhere I go it’s there, I feel like it’s following me around the kitchen 🤣

FavouriteDogMug · 13/11/2022 09:02

You made me laugh with your description of it 🤣 I don't have it but if it's 15 in 1 is it a pressure cooker? Could you adapt recipes for the instant pot? That's great for things like casseroles and curries.

onmywayamarillo · 13/11/2022 09:16

I have one!! I love it
Don't be scared of the pressure cooker it's great.
First thing to try would be a casserole... you don't need the amount of stock you'd usually use. 15/20 mins and it will be perfect.

Kids love the airfry part for beige food 🤣

Lolacat1234 · 13/11/2022 09:24

Pinterest has a lot of nice pressure cooker recipes - any Multicooker recipe book will be fine for the Foodi. I have the 9 in 1 and was very intimidated at first, I'm slowly picking up how to use it for everything and loving it now but it did take a while for me to feel confident with it. X

Yumchips · 13/11/2022 09:29

I have one and honestly can't remember life without it. But I will admit that I used a manual pressure cooker before so having the saute and pressure cooker function for me was the thing that made me want it. I make a lot of currys, beef stews/tagines, lamb shanks etc. only rice hasn't been successful for me but I might need to practice more. I also make a full roast in mine.

FavouriteDogMug · 13/11/2022 09:34

I see it has a breadmaker function so I would want to try that out.
