Dh insists that i'm making our kids fussy about food by cutting out the bruises but i think he's wiered for eating them - so i thought i'd conduct a mumsnet poll!

make me heave just thinking about it - I like them firm and slighlty unripe

If they're just a bit bruised I do, but can't stand them really soggy.

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2008 21:14

NO i do NOT

mind you I get annoyed when ds is fussy about them - I think everyone ELSE should eat them

JackieNo · 26/01/2008 21:14

I like bananas to be properly ripe, with brown speckles all over the skin. If the inside looks bruised, I do sometimes eat it if it doesn't look too soggy.

Slubberdegullion · 26/01/2008 21:15

No I do not, they give me an ooey.

Bellavita · 26/01/2008 21:16

If it is black then yes I would cut it out, but if it is just a bit bruised then no I would leave it.

I do prefer them slightly unripe though.

depends how ickey. My mum is the sort who'll sniff week out of date cream and proclaim it to be fine and eats the apple in its entirety (ok, not the stalk itself). DS won't eat it. In fact if his banana is bruised he tends to cry.

No, it taste horrid, even if you can't see it, it has a different texture and taste. NO NO NO

Someone I know has taught her child to call/think of them as "yummy bits" cos her parents did that to her. That she pretty much hates her parents doesn't seem to have infuenced her any.

And no, I don't.
