Is anyone else disappointed with the air fryer?

It's just too small to be of any use, and the temperatures seem to be a bit off ie everything gets done very well, very fast regardless of what heat I put it on.

It does things like nuggets ok, and chips have been fine, but again, you can only do such a tiny amount in it, I can't really see how it's any good for more than 1 person.

I have friends who swear by it and say they've not had the oven on since they got it, but I don't understand how. There's four of us and I can't see how I could do anything other than a side veg in it and it be enough.

Anyone else? Or is it just me? :D

They are alright for sausages, fishfingers and oven chips,

I bought a ninja last week. So far I have made a whole Sunday roast, spaghetti Bol, pineapple upside down cake, cherry scones, Full English breakfast, stew, braised beef mash and vegetables, salmon, creamy garlic chicken, curry, roasted veg, chips, soup, pizza, cottage pie, bread…..

I guess you can cook freezer stuff in it if you’ve a mind to. We don’t eat frozen food.

I wouldn't fit a Sunday roast in mine, I doubt a small chicken would fit, it's only the large ones that take ip a huge amount of space that whole meals fit in, hopefully people won't buy the smaller ones thinking they are going to fit Sunday lunch in, they will be disappointed

@BobbysGirly I can cook all that too without a new gadget - what's the advantage of doing it in the Ninja?

@Crikeyalmighty I've also started using it for doing veg - and agree it's actually great for that! Roast pumpkin/squash is a current favourite.

@NotElizabethBennet

Its a matter of choice really. For me it was a case of my oven wasn’t getting to temperature so was, obviously, on the way out. My sister has had a ninja for two years and hasn’t used her oven at all in that time. I had a few practices with hers and I couldn’t believe how quickly everything cooked. Tbh I was scared stiff of the pressure cooker, after watching the lid fly off a PC and hit the ceiling when my mum was cooking, in the 70’s. The PC on the Ninja is nothing like the PC of years ago. It’s simple to use.

A joint of meat/chicken cooks in 40 mins. Roast potatoes in 20. Veg in a minute. Yorkshire pudding - 3 minutes. Cakes baked on steam bake are light and airy. Spag Bol done in 8 mins….

Everything seems to be cooked in half the time, or less, than in an oven. My oven took 15 minutes to warm up, when it was working.

It sits on my hob so takes up no space on the kitchen worktop. If I need to move it for any reason it’s not too heavy to lift. As I said it’s a matter of choice, really. Not everyone will want one. I love mine.

@Endlessdays we eat together whenever possible but with children doing loads of activities and husband doing shifts it means that it's useful for a quick meal for one. As a gadget for a full family meal it's tricky.
