If you eat your 'Christmas dinner' at lunch time what do you eat for tea?

I'm always shattered by then but need to do something... a couple of older relatives come in the evening that haven't been with us for lunch so I need to make a bit of an effort for them.

We always have a really early Christmas lunch and then have what is known in our family as Christmas soup, which has ham, pasta and loads of veg through in the evening. We have it with crusty bread and also a grazing board with breadsticks meats and cheeses, dips etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I'll have another read through and make a plan!!

Christmas tea is my favourite meal of the year!

Loads already listed. Plus: lots of pickles red cabbage, pickles onions etc and chutneys. Nice salads, cheeses and array of crackers and breads (buy fresh and freeze, take out of freezer Xmas morning and charcuterie (eg smoked meats)

Yum. We also have a chocolate log, French fancies and some other little cakes as it reminds me of my Grandparents:)

Cold turkey, sausage rolls, Delia's vegetarian sausage rolls, cheese, salad, bread, crackers, smoked salmon, a couple of fancy bits from M&S/Tesco Finest. Then Yule Log and Christmas cake for pudding. I love Christmas tea, even more than Christmas lunch. This year we are at my PILs and they don't do Christmas tea which makes me sad.

How do you have room for all of that after a Christmas lunch?
We eat Christmas lunch at lunchtime (no later than 2pm) so I am not hungry until past 8pm, and even then I can only eat cheese and biscuits and some leftovers. I am not a competitive undereater BTW Grin

Gracious. I cannot imaging eating again at 4pm when lunch has finished around 3pm.
We usually just let people help themselves, if they want anything in the evening.

People arrivng who haven't eaten lunch I think I'd just offer cold ham leftover from Christmas Eve with some bread and cheeses.

Usually left overs if hungry but never a formal tea. Since we stopped having in laws due to covid we have been spreading out the three courses so starter at 1ish, main at 4ish and dessert at 6/7ish. All very laid back and flexible which was lovely.

My fil os currently in a home and I'm not sure he will get out so we will probably have mil so will may have to go back to normal.

Used to have ham and tongue sandwiches, trifle and possibly Christmas cake.
