DH has said he's bored of the usual dinners, can I mix it up a little....
The usual are:
Spag bowl
Cottage pie
Mac and cheese
Curried chicken noodles
Creamy mushroom pasta
Pasta bake
Bacon egg fried rice
Cheese and bacon turnovers

We don't eat fish.

Slow cooker meals are a bonus! Nothing with too hard it as I've got 2 under 2 and DH gets in at dinner time!

Toad in the hole
Fajitas
Thai green curry... buy a curry paste and save yourself the effort of making your own.
Hunters chicken

DelilahBucket · 02/10/2022 19:49

Can you add in:
Chilli
Fajitas
Hoisin or teriyaki chicken thighs with stir-fry veg and noodles/rice
Katsu curry and rice (buy frozen breaded chicken to make it less of a faff)
Pitta bread pizzas and salad
Some kind of sausage traybake
Chilli cheese dogs (even easier with a tin of kidney beans in chilli sauce, just chuck in some extra veg)
Ramen
Paneer curry and chapattis

There are some fabulous easy prep cookbooks out there like The Quick Roasting Tin. We often eat different things every single day, with just a few regular meals that make an appearance. Midweek cooks tend to be ready within 30 mins or for something that's "stick in all on a tray in the oven and leave to cook", an hour.

Blueberrycreampie · 02/10/2022 19:51

Could he take over the cooking a couple of times a week maybe?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 02/10/2022 19:52

Risotto
Burgers
Hot dogs
Naan pizzas
Thai chicken curry
Enchiladas
Slow cooker sausage casserole with mash
Slow cooker tagine

PeachesVonBeach · 02/10/2022 20:01

Cauliflower cheese
Orzo bake - I find anything from the roasting tin books super easy
Dhal
Chicken korma and rice
Jacket potatoes with your fave toppings
Spanish omlette
Slow cooked meat
Bean chilli
Pearl barley risotto - realfood.tesco.com/recipes/pearl-barley-and-tomato-risotto.html - I made this which was a surprising hit with DDs.
Sausage caserole
Toad in the hole
Carbonara
Homemade pizza

Beautifulsunflowers · 02/10/2022 20:06

that’s 4 pasta meals in your usual list
mix it up by adding bacon to your mushroom pasta. Lasagne instead of cottage pie.
Chilli can be made in the slow cooker - double the amount then have it with rice one night and with tacos the next or over jacket potatoes.
My cheat dinner is Cajun chicken which is a one pot meal made with a Schwartz packet mix!
stir fry - pork beef or chicken
fahitas
hotdogs but with nice sausages
roast chicken served with salad and new potatoes or salad and bread

OldTinHat · 02/10/2022 20:13

Hand DH phone/tablet/laptop/recipe book and say, yes! You choose and cook for a change!

SpaceOP · 02/10/2022 20:13

My instinct is to say if he's bored, he can perhaps do some of the cooking, but assuming you're quite happy, then I do sympathise with him as that is quite a limited list.

Do you have no curries/spicy dishes because you don't like them? Because with curry pastes it's pretty easy to make a curry. Or even easier if you use something like Spice Tailor.

Pasta sauces can be far more varied than what you're doing. A few that we are currently doing relatively regularly include:

  1. Aubergine and sausage/chorizo with tinned cherry tomatoes
  2. Arrabiata, with added aubergine
  3. Onion, bacon, courgette, mushrooms in a creamy sauce
  4. Butternut, sausage and leek
  5. Roasted tomatoes with feta cheese
  6. Fried courgette with lemon, chilli and garlic and feta cheese

Roast chicken doesn't have to be done with all the trimmings - we regularly have roast chicken with new potatoes and steamed vegetables. Or baked chicken pieces with mash potatoes and steamed veg.

Lamb or beef stews can easily be done in the slow cooker.

Stir fries - chicken/beef with a selection of sliced vegetables. I usually just use soy sauce and lime but you can buy stir fry sauces too.

Tacos or fajitas.

For those saying get DH to cook he's out all day at work and gets in at dinner time, leaves at 6am and gets in at 6pm, there's no way I'm waiting for him to get home to cook dinner when our toddlers bed time is 7pm, our routine is dinner at 6, bath time, a few books then toddler goes to bed.

Toddler is allergic to bell peppers and partner hates beans, so puts most Mexican food out the window.

There are some good ideas here, will try them out! Thank you!

He could at least come up with some ideas about what he'd like to eat instead?

Plus he could cook at the weekend?

Rather than people on here try to guess what he might like?

Flower0503 · 07/10/2022 06:38

This sausage casserole is nice i do in the slow cooker reducing the amount of water the recipe says www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/great_sausage_casserole_73010/amp
