apples

I need some advice on how to keep an apple fresh. My DD2, 3, loves apples, but she finds it difficult to eat it when it is not cut, and of course, once is cut, it starts getting all "brown" colour.
How could I cut an apple into smaller pieces but be able to keep them "fresh". We have to take a plane in two weeks time, and I was thinking on taking some fruit with me, but I don't think I will be allow to take a "knife" to cut the fruit. How would you take an apple, so smaller kids can eat them?

dip the sliced apple in lemon juice that should keep it from going brown.

I would just take a different fruit for the journey rather than spend energy worrying about it. Oranges or raisins or something. I give my one year old tiny apples to hold though I do peel them.

I just eat the rest of the apple helps me with 5 a day!

Thanks for your advice.
Joyfulspike, do the apples have a "lemony" taste then? But I will try it anyway.
Tapster, Yes I do the same, otherwise she will stay up until midnight eating her apple, as she says when its bedtime, "I can't go to nightnight, I am eating my apple".
MrsCarrot, I will take different fruit, as she loves raising and bananas and other fruits, unlike my DD1 who doesn't like fruit at all because is "crunchy". My DD2 will choose, sometimes, fruit over chocolate.

a 3 yr old should be able to eat an apple without it being sliced

does the skin bother her? you could nibble off the skin then give it to her (handy on the plane)

my 3 yr old eats apples; seeds, core, stalk and all!

have you tried drying apples slices? they keep for ages

my 3 year old gets an apple, has a couple of bites out of it, and then wanders off

however I can't be fagged cutting it up so I guess I have to live with it

There is a slight taste, depending on the apple. I don't notice the taste in Granny Smiths which are really sharp, but a softer taste such as a cox, the lemon might be more noticeable.

I think you can dilute the lemon in water, so try squeezing half a fresh lemon into water.

Hi, Yes the skin bothers her, but she takes it out of her mouth and then eats the rest.
I have to get used to have a child who actually likes fruit. As I said, my eldest daughter doesn't like any fruit at all. I love fruit, and having a DD that some times schooses fruit instead of chocolate is new for me.
Thank you very much for your tips.
