ds has really taken to pasta (wheat free one made from rice and milet). he has been eating it plain alongside his tea as finger food. does anyone know any easy sauces to serve with pasta that don't use cows milk? he has not had tomatoe yet, as fh of allergies, and most sauces for pasta have tomatoe in them, so may try him with a small amount.

one of my books suggests home made humous with pasta - chickpeas/tahini/garlic and lemon juice. would you be interested in the recipe for that?

Humous thing sounds great!

You can always use formula or EBM in recipes that would otherwise use cows milk.

I used to make a pasta sauce by frying some onions, bunging some spinach on top and then adding some EBM and whizzing it smooth in a blender. Once dd was onto dairy I would put a bit of cheese in too.

Can't remember at what point we did tomato (my brain is like a sieve these days). But I would say it is so useful for making sauces it's worth giving it a go and chances are your ds will have no problems with it.

onion/garlic/tomato/basil (i.e. basic Italian red sauce - fry onion + g, then add other things and biol up) plus one or two other veggies (I usally use carrot and green pepper or aubergine).

If you have a hand blender you can whizz it up so it's smoothe enough for bab to eat but still has some texture.

recipe for the hummus:
14 oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed, 1/2 clove of garlic crushed, 4 tbsps tahini, juice of 1/2 lemon, a little greek yoghurt

you blend it all together (add the greek yoghurt at the end)

for the pasta sauce they recommend gently sauteing a couple vof spring onions until soft/golden, and adding these and a couple of tbsps of milk to the hummus (seeing it's just one or two tbsps of milk, i'ld just substitute water personally)
