Victoria sponge with cream and jam-how long will it store in a fridge?

I can't seem to find a definitive answer to this. I've made a Victoria sponge and am thinking of whipping some cream to go in it along with strawberry jam. How long will it store for in the fridge? I'm not familiar with using cream in anything.

not long, three days? You’ll have to sniff it and see on day three

It's only good on the day it is made

Why not fill with buttercream instead?

Buttercream would be better. In spite of people keeping bread & cakes in the fridge there is a scientific reason (can't remember what it is!) that both go dry much more quickly in the fridge - better in the freezer or room temperature. Cream will make it go soggy.

I think I might just stick with jam. My digestive system is too contrary to be sniff testing food and hoping for the best

Is this to keep fresh and early prep.or just simply how long can you keep eating it for keeping it in the fridge?
If it's to prep.id make cakes night before and whip cream on the day you need it.even keep it in tub until assembly.
Butter cream is best.a few days in the fridge is fine.
But no need to sniff test it.it won't go off enough to make u sick( unless a lonnnng time then there'd be visible mould.(
We've had it in the fridge for days.
But sponge as the title soaks up other flavours so keep it in tub or covered.
It will keep even longer with fondant covering if it's a birthday cake.
So the keeping it will only be signified by it's taste and sameness.but this is days.
No panic sniff test required it's not meat!

It will be perfectly safe to eat for 3 days, however I wouldn't recommend making it 3 days in advance if it's for a party or something, as it will be a little bit stale by then (still safe and delicious to eat but not at its best).

If it's for a party/ serving to guests etc., don't make it any earlier than the day before.

I think it will go stale before the cream turns if you keep it in the fridge. I would have said safe at 3 days but the texture won’t be great!

I made a Victoria sponge with jam and buttercream and had lots left over, so I sliced it, wrapped each slice in cling film and then packed into a plastic container. It defrosted in the microwave in short bursts of 8-10 seconds and was delicious. May well be worth trying if it’s only going to get wasted otherwise.

We are doing little pots of cream on the side as a compromise.

You dont put them in the fridge. They don't store well in there.
I had this question when I made a cake for during during the Aug heat wave. I made it on his birthday and we finished it by the next day.
