Substitute for coriander

I hate coriander; to me it smells like cats pee and tastes like soap.
What can I use instead in recipes calling for fresh coriander? I’m not keen on hot spicy foods, I prefer subtle flavours and spice/heat.

Depends on what it's going with really. I think corriander is the devil's soap weed, the only nice part of the flavour is peppery, so you could just add in black pepper. I usually just don't replace it, I just don't add any, and I've never missed it.

Depending on the use maybe a squeeze of lemon/lime or another herb (mint/parsley/basil). It won’t give the same flavour to the dish, but should add freshness which coriander provides. Or just miss it out altogether and see what you think.

What kind of recipes are they that you need to substitute, as it depends on which sub would be best. For coriander chutney, there really isn’t a substitute, as coriander is essential. For a garnish, I’d just try it without anything and see what you think it’s missing.

Just leave it out or maybe some Holy basil / Thai basil if you can get hold of it.

Just leave it out. There is dried coriander, which is less yuck. Still rather avoid if it was me!
