Got a party this Friday and would be grateful for help with the following:

Mayonnaise (not recipes, just propertion of eggs to oil)

Crumble (not recipe, just proportions of flour, sugar and butter for the topping)

Deep fried chicken-how long do I need to fry the drumsticks for after i've coated them?

Thank you!

i think crumble is equal of everything expcept butter which is half the amount? does that make sense?

PuffTheMagicDragon · 28/11/2004 15:25

My mayonnaise recipe (Delia Smith) has 2 large egg yolks to 275ml of oil.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 28/11/2004 15:27

Crumble topping (to serve 6)-

225g flour
3oz butter
110g sugar

Thank you very much Puff and Misdee!
I shall raise my glass to you as I waft about, proferring hors d'oeuvres and being the hostess with the mostest ( yeah, right! I'll probably be pissed and lurching, fag in hand, burning everything and insulting everyone..)

Now anyone with the lowdown on the chicken out there???

oops.

it has been a while since i made it.

chicken legs are normally 20 minutes aren't they (although have never fried chicken in my life)

moondog · 28/11/2004 16:12

20 mins seems a bit long for fried chicken don't you think?
God knows why I'm doing it,I never make it. Have dim memories of doing so in university, 17 years ago (shriek!!!) If no more advice forthcoming I shall give it a whirl on 20 mins.
Thanks Twiglett!

I think you can halve the time for the chicken. Have you time to experiment with 1?

Twiglett · 28/11/2004 16:14

you could bake them and then 20 minutes would be about right

moondog · 28/11/2004 16:20

Yes, could do the baking, but it evokes memories of grim British buffets (you know the sort, greasy sausage rolls, sandwiches full of cheap margarine, sloppy coleslaw, and great chunks of celery and iceberg lettuce that noone is EVER going to eat.)

I want to add a bit of pizazz!!
Happily, have time to experiment on dh who is sitting with a beer, thrilled beyond belief that they are showing the Arsenal/Liverpool match on local tv.I could give him a cow dung baguette at this stage and he would smile and say 'Mmmm, delicious my love!'
