Best vegetarian sausages please?

I want something I can cook in a frying pan (rather than having to go in the oven) and I don't mind if it's fake "meat" or chopped vegetables, but would love to have some recommendations as there are now so many out there!

Another one saying Richmond 😁

RoobarbandCustud · 11/09/2022 11:35

@bluechameleon the Richmond veggie taste like a really cheap meat sausage. Most meat eaters can't tell. I can't stand them, but they are absolutely convincing.

Hakunamatata91 · 11/09/2022 11:47

Another vote for Richmond!

PuppyMonkey · 11/09/2022 11:50

The answer is Richmond.

UWhatNow · 11/09/2022 11:51

If you want a sausage to taste like meat then I say just eat a really good quality meat one from the butchers.

For vegetarian - Linda McCartney every time.

Vote here for the Shroomdogs from Plant Pioneers, which brown very nicely in a frying pan,

MomwasCasual · 11/09/2022 12:03

I'm not keen on the Richmond sausages, mainly because they taste like Richmond sausages Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/09/2022 19:13

Richmond are streets ahead of most others. Just had them with sweet potato mash, Savoy cabbage plus red wine and balsamic glazed red onions and gravy. Burp.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/09/2022 19:14

I don't like Linda M ones, other than in a sausage sarnie for breakfast with HP sauce. Too dry for anything else.

Vinylloving · 11/09/2022 19:18

The this one's are the best in my experience for a like for like decent 'posh' sort of sausage. But in some ways Richmond are great, they remind me of cheap meat sausages you like even though you shouldn't as they aren't fancy or high quality, but with the meat free at least you aren't thinking what bits of animal are in here?!

thenightsky · 11/09/2022 19:19

I used to love Linda McCartney, but this last year they seem to have morphed into tasteless nothingness. I guess they took out the yummy grease and salt.

I tried Richmond, but they actually made me want to vomit... nasty twangy skins on them that make me shudder to bite through. Then mush inside.

Quorn in the bag ones are my favourite at the moment.

TBH, veggie sausages, whatever the make, seem to change recipe with alarming regularity, so you have to keep moving around different makes.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 11/09/2022 20:32

I don't like fake meat sausages as they're either Quorn ( that's me on the bog then) or some other dry pap.
Absolutely love Glamorgan sausages though but they're hard to find.
Large Sainsburys sometimes have them.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 12/09/2022 09:37

im always baffled people like Linda McCartney… they taste like greasy cardboard.
Richmond or shroomdogs are good

Agree! They're so dry!

I’ve just tried the Marks and Spencer mushroom ones. From the Plant Kitchen range. Did them in the air fryer and they were perfect. Nicely seasoned and good texture.
