If we eat these kinds of meals, which kind of cooking gadget do we need?

Our (electric) oven and hob are both crap, the oven in particular. It needs replacing really but that’s not going to happen this year at least.

Been thinking about air fryers and instant pots etc for a while, and then obviously there’s lots of talk about them being more energy efficient which is a bonus, though something to make life/ cooking easier and quicker and not having to use my dickhead of an oven much is the main driver.

As much as I Google I can’t quite work out if its an air fryer we need, or an instant pot, ninja foodie or whether they are the same thing!! If an ninja then which one?

We do have a slow cooker which does get used though that too has seen better days (knob fallen off so you have to twizzle the metal bit and hope you’ve hit the right setting). So whatever we get might also be a replacement for that.

Just DH and I with toddler DD (who at the moment happily eats pretty much the same as us with occasional tweaks) We don’t eat meat very often (I don’t at all) at home, but do eat fish.

Things we currently use the oven for -
pasta bakes
homemade pizza - DH’s pet project so quite a regular thing, not sure if we need to invest in an actual pizza oven to keep him quiet!
salmon or white fish of some kind
attempts to grill prawns/ halloumi etc (woeful with our grill)
fish stew in casserole dish
Fritattas- finishing off on top
roast vegetables various ways
veggie sausages - either as traybake
jacket spuds (really don’t like them from microwave)
fruit crumbles
baking - love to bake and try to do so with DD regularly but the twatty oven does put me off

Things we can manage on hob but open to anything that makes life easier:
rice
curries
veggie chillis and stews
daal
soups
pasta Sauces

I like the look of the ninja dual and the tower air fryers which I think would do a lot of the oven stuff? To cover all the above would we need something like that AND and instant pot/ pressure cooker type thing?

What would you get? If you eat similarly what do you use/ recommend?

Ooh excellent question! We're very similar and wondering what we should get too... It's baffling

Instant Pot and Ninja both make appliances that are both and air fryer and an electric pressure cooker in one. Go for one of those models and you won't need to decide between the two

You're welcome

Before I had my kitchen redone my hob and oven weren’t working well, I relied heavily on an instant pot and an air fryer - at that time I would have instantly replaced one if it broke!

Love my Ninja Foodi. Its the 9 in 1.

This is what we have, we use thw bake, air fry, slow cooker and pressure cooker option. Me and my son are vegetarian (no fish though)

We still do jackets and pizzas in the oven though

I've looked at the various Ninjas, & 2 things were against them for me.
They are very heavy, & would have to be permanently on a worktop in my small kitchen.
They might do many things, but not at the same time. I'm also thinking "jack of all trades, master of none".
When my oven & 2 rings died recently, I used my Airfryer a lot - & still do.
(Microwave JPs & finish off in AF - as good as oven-baked.)
I've got a PC that sits on the hob, very useful & I wouldn't replace it with a plug-in version.

SCs are very cheap now.

Ninja foodie, will handle everything except the pizzas, need an oven for that.

Thanks all, should have said we're OK for counter space really (it's cupboard space we lack!). I'm still dithering but I'm going to check out all the links properly and forward to DH.
