Mulled wine recipe please

Anyone got a tried and tested recipe for mulled wine please? Is the one in Delia's Xmas book good as I have that?

Also, could anyone recommend a non alcoholic equivalent for the drivers of the party?

Many thanks in advance if you can help!

My best advice would be to get yourself down to M&S and invest in a few bottles of their christmas Mulled wine (curently £1 off!) - I used it last year and it was very nice and no hassle!
sorry not to be authentic and home made!

Thanks Finbar ... that would be just the ticket but unfortunately, we are living overseas... I've also used mulled wine sachets before which were delicious added to wine with some sliced citrus fruit. But have scoured the shops and they are not available here... so it's the authentic, home made stuff for me. Anyone else?

We jut had mulled wine at our wedding last saturday. Followed the recipe on the back of the spice packets. Here's the schwartz one .
As a non-alcoholic version we had Norfolk Punch (available from holland & barrett's), which was actually more popular than the wine!

Waswondering... thanks for that... sounds great and thanks to you dh too! Very generous of him to share it with us all! Thanks for the other suggestions too but just cannot get hold of the sachets here so will have to make from scatch. Doesn't sound too bad. Just read on a thread a bit further down where someone posted similar question that I could do same thing with apple juice for the non-alco version ... might try that and see how it tastes since I'm 5 months pregnant and will need to limit the amount of the real stuff I sample to a few sips! Thanks again!

A few cloves give it a nice aniseed-y flavour, but fish/strain them out (unless you are my MIL & intend chewing them as a ciggy replacement!)

Here's mine:

1 quart red wine
2 cups sweet vermouth
1/3 cups sugar or honey
2 Tbsp. mulling spices (cinnamon chips, orange rind, whole allspice, whole cloves)- put in cheesecloth, large tea infuser or strain after mulling.

Heat to just below boiling point. Mull to tast, about 20 minutes,. Remove spices and serve.
