Hi all

Looking for cook book recommendations for a specific health diet I have been advised to follow, following diagnosis of a health condition.

I'm now very restricted on carbs - only allowed quinoa, black rice, sweet potato, buckwheat.

No sugar

Plenty of a huge variety of veg

Some fruit.

Dairy is allowed in moderation, as is chicken, fish, occasional red meat and lots of beans, pulses, nuts and seeds.

Thank you.

Has this regime got a name that you could Google ?
I'm thinking low-carb, paleo etc
Or perhaps the NHS dietician could recommend a book.

Not sure about books unfortunately, but with buckwheat I can recommend buying flour (doves farm does it) and mixing with water to make tagliatelle-like pasta. It goes really well with vegs like spinach or Savoy cabbage, boiled and then stir fried with butter, garlic and sage and whatever amount of cheese you are allowed to have.
If you're limited on carbs, it can give you that nice feeling of a bowl of pasta within the limits of what you can have.

I'd look at fast 800 /Michael Mosley. You don't have to restrict the calories as much as the recipes suggest but it will tick your other boxes as much as possible

I’m in a similar position and got several books from my library on Paleo, Gut Health, Anti inflammatory and autoimmune diets and read through them to get ideas and inspiration before deciding which book(s) to buy. If you can get to a decent sized city bookshop you’ll be able to find lots of suitable titles as an alternative to a library.

I miss pasta so much but have found pea and also lentil pastas are a pretty good substitute when I want that familiar meal and feel fed up with restrictions. You can Google gluten free pea pasta to see if your supermarket stocks it - I get mine in Waitrose.

Good luck!
