Do I need an air fryer? Or a pressure cooker?

Hi! I know everyone uses these things but I’m just wondering if they’re really worth it. Which one of the above is most useful?

For context, two adults and four children aged 5-12. Both adults need to lose a bit of weight! We only have a single oven which can be a pain. I am a teacher and during the week, we all eat unhealthy and quick/crappy food 😔 I really want that to change.

Any and all thoughts very welcome! Thank you!

I think I'd always want both to be honest. I use one of other every day, often both!

Best thing ever- using dried beans for baked beans or chilli, without needing to pre soak.
Eg. Chilli- brown the mince and soften the onions with the garlic, cumin, Tom purée and chilli powder. Add a stock cube, the beans and enough water to barely cover them. Add a tin of tomatoes. Pressure cook for 20 and leave on keep warm. I like to add peppers then so they don't overcook.
Yum.

Oh, recipe times don't allow for the time getting up to pressure. So some recipes are cooked after 0minutes- 10 minutes or so to get to pressure, then NPR.

@BrutusMcDogface that's pretty much what I was thinking. Honey and mustard roast parsnips and carrots. I bet the air fryer will do them soooo well. They are good but I just can't use mine enough to justify them. It was a gift from my mum. If I ever end up with a massive kitchen I'll have big air fryer, an instapot, a soup maker, a nutribullet thingy and probably a kitchen aid too. Oh to dream...

carrots and parsnips (and broccoli) tend to dry up a bit, so I put a couple of tablespoons of water in the instapot before turning the air fryer function in. They come out beautifully, steamed and roasted to perfection

All good tips! The pressure cooker instructions are a bit mindblowing!
