Loose Tea Recommendations Please

As a lifelong tea lover, I have been using tea leaves for the last few years and am struggling to find a decent, reasonably priced leaf tea. Pg tips are probably best from a supermarket. Coop own not bad, tesco awful. Bought some twinnings assam and that's very good but not cheap for everyday use.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I don't know how Yorkshire tea compares with others, but it is my favourite everyday tea. The orange one, not the gold.

Barry’s Tea

Waitrose Assam is my current go-to.

Brilliant thanks all. I will investigate these. Always liked Yorkshire tea bags so will give the loose version another whirl

Yorkshire is good enough for a basic loose leaf tea.

Twinings Lapsang Souchong. It Needs brewing for longer than most teas but it’s amazing.

Cheaper than some supermarket loose leaf tea and really good quality. They sometimes do offers, e.g. Black Friday.

We’re currently making a blend of about 2 parts Waitrose assam to 1 part earl grey. Gives the lovely early grey fragrance without being overwhelmingly bergamoty.

I’m a big fan of M&S Extra Strong Tea in loose form. Only thing that gets me up in the morning.

Will buy several bags at a time.

Barrys Tea is good, but haven’t seen it for sale around here.

We do this, two Yorkshire, one Earl Grey. We have introduced it to some of our local tea shops, who are calling it “the London Mix”.

Giggorata · 27/08/2022 12:29

Dammit, wrong quotation again! I meant the mix of teas one ( I can't work this new format 🙄)

I buy teapigs everyday day in loose leaf on subscription. It's delicious.

We make our own loose leaf blend of half Twining's Earl Grey (have tried others/own brands and they're not as nice Hmm) and half Sainsbury's own brand Darjeeling.

This is my husbands absolute favourite brand. He is a huge fan of their various darjeelings.

Chikapu · 28/08/2022 12:23

If you have a Polish supermarket nearby I highly recommend the Richard tea brand. T2 is delicious but a bit more expensive for every day.

Thank you for all the recommendations. Will be exploring.
Got some Betty's tea for my birthday and tge taste difference to supermarket tea is massive.
