Hi everyone! During the summer holidays my ds2 has really taken to cooking meals. So far he has cooked bolognese, meatballs and homemade ragu sauce, chicken burgers and homemade bread rolls, and homemade pizzas (his favourite) He also loves baking cakes and biscuits He spends ages scouring google for more recipe ideas and inspiration. Has anyone got any ideas for more meals please? Thank you! 😊

I would look for things that need different techniques / skills.

Once he has the skills, following new recipes becomes easy, but you need to know what a recipe means when it asks you to
sear something
rub in the flour
poach something
steam something
melt the chocolate (as in know that means to put it in a bowl over boiling water)

etc
etc

So maybe scones....pastry......(I made a sausage plait in school cookery as a teen and it was gorgeous).....something like a stir fry.......risotto.......dahl......curry (All things you can really play around with and adapt with different ingredients once you know how to make it)......poaching fish...... making a choux pastry isn't exactly a life skill but it is interesting to learn and great for you if you get to be chief taster)

Have a look at Sam Stern's cookery books. They are aimed at students but you son might like them

Pastry - cheese straws, jam tarts or sausage rolls.

He could a fruit crumble with cream or ice cream.

Steak and chips with home made onion rings - everyone should be able to do this.

Shortbread is easy.

Savory pies, steak and kidney, chicken and ham, beef and ale.

Maybe do some 'food challenges'? Like feed the family for £5 but must include a main and a pudding.

Roast dinner. Must have at least one roast meat, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and 2 more veg.

Make a picnic, it must include 2 baked items, one sweet, one savory and a home made soft drink.

I recommend Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Cookery It's not so much a recipe book but a guide to cooking techniques.
