This was on a bit ago - its Jerry seinfeld's wife - she has put out a recipe book for kids, and it all has pureed veg in it to hide in regular food. Oprah went nuts for it. Anyone else see it, or tried it?

Hope I did the link properly

What will happen to all these kids who have been fed hidden veg when they get older and are confronted with a carrot or a pea.Bloody ridiculous

Twiglett · 20/01/2008 16:23

yeah cos kids can't possibly like vegetables can they?

what noddy said

purpleduck · 20/01/2008 16:31

Her reasoning was to give children veg AS WELL - however, some children really don't like veg, and this is a way to get the vitamins in.

crikey!!!

No, I don't like it either. Just give your dc veggies from day one, with no fuss. Also give them as treats and give them with every meal. Then you don't have to hide them fgs

purpleduck · 20/01/2008 22:23

I gave my ds veg (home-made organic) from the day we weaned, and he just didn't like it. Some kids really don't.

btw, i don't agree with the non-fat stuff, but I do like the idea of it.

Yes. I was pretty smug with ds. He'll eat any vegetable you throw at him (except mushrooms and cucumber).

Then I had dd...

So no "FGS" please.

I give her hidden vegetables and intact vegetables, so she can refuse the intact ones (except carrots, broccoli, squash, parsnip and sweetcorn - her entire repertoire if you discount pulses), and still eats some veg. I live in hope that one day she will give up the fight and just put the courgette in her mouth...

My ds doesn't like any veg or fruit, apart from really bland stuff, or tamato based things (which i do hide stuff in)
He has always disliked it - even his first foods, i struggled with anything fruit or veg based. Thing is, he is 8, and he understands about vitamins, and he WANTS to like them, he just doesn't - and he has gotten quite upset. He will have a few bites of veg, but he truly doesn't like it.

He especially doesn't like fruit -have tried and tried smoothies- no luck, we depend on proper fruit juice.

I am keen to try the chicken nuggets. I totally agree with you about the salt, so will adapt it. Ds does get involved in cooking. I have watched him in a number of situations, and he genuinely doesn't like the stuff. I am hoping he will grow out of it

Sorry to hear about your dd sue - will she need more surgery?
