Slow cooker, which one?

Hi

I finally decided to buy a slow cooker, but have no idea which one to get, as I havbe not used one before and don't know which features are most important. Leaning towards the Morphy Richards 6.5 litres due to its size (allowing me to cook enough for at least two meals I think), but the feedback on Amazon is not great. Anyone out there using it, can I have your opinions please. If not which one to buy? We are a family of four, we like our food, and I am paranoid about safety regarding the risk of fire (having been in a fire situation before) and hot surfaces.
Any feedback would be welcomed. Thank you

Baabi- I have not seen the feedback on this, but I have the Morphy Richards 6.5l and I find that it is great. I use it about once a week, mainly for stews, curries or bolognese. As you say, I deliberately bought the larger one to make more than one meal at a time.

It does get hot on the outside, but then I think all do - don't they? Also, you need to do at least 1/2 full, so you cannot go for the smaller meal option if you but this one.

I work full time and leave it on in the kitchen when I go out - never had any worries. I have even used it overnight and again it was fine.

I've got the MR 6.5 litre one and it's fab! Nappyzone, I've had it for 2 years and still not getting the consistency of the sauces right. I have a box of cornflour to hand in the cupboard, mix some with a little cold water, mix into the stew at the end of cooking and hey presto.

ahhh yes cornflour - my mum mentioned that

Just wanted to add that I have done a joint of beef in mine today.

I sealed the meat first on top of the cooker then transferred it into the slow cooker. Added about an inch of boiling water and put it on medium. Half way through I turned it to low. (Put it on at 10.00am).

Had dinner 5 mins ago and the beef was beautiful. Used the juices at the bottom for the gravy.

Thank you for all your replies. In the end I bought a 4.5 litres one from Breville, the 6.5 litres really looked huge, and my kitchen is tiny.
All need now is some delicious recipes. Any ideas? I need to convice DH that it was a worthwhile investment, as he thinks I have just wasted my money!
