Lunch ideas for a baby when out and about??

Sophie9090 · 07/08/2022 12:17

I’m really struggling for lunch ideas for my 9 month old for when we’re out. I can think of meal ideas when at home, but not many ideas on foods that can be left in a cool bag all day.

He is allergic to diary and soya.
Any ideas of lunches that are safe to be stored in a cool bag for 4/5 hours?
thanks :)

Fritata is good. Fairly soft, easy finger food and great for using up Radom bits and bobs from the fridge!

I had a friend whose baby would cram whole handfuls of cold cooked broccoli in her mouth at that age! lots of little munchy things, a plastic bib with sleeves, and some water and muslin to wipe sticky hands and faces.

Get an insulated lunch bag and a freezable brick to keep things cool?

A little pot of plain pasta shapes
Grated cheese or yoghurt (if you have a cool bag)
Organix flavoured rice cakes
Fruit like mango pieces, banana, blueberries
cucumber
A little pot of fruit crumble

These look really good, they contain egg do you think this would be safe to take out for the day? Thanks

Puff pastry is the best... use whatever fillings you like and make some twists or pinwheels. They are easy to take and eat on the go.

Should have said... I believe Jus Rol do a dairy free pastry.

Banana
Any fruit? Appropriately sized. Slices of melon
Ella's pouches or similar? (The horror)

An avocado, cut it in half, stick it back together (don’t take the stone out or it will start to get brown, do that just before you feed him) - you can just scoop it out.

I've slightly forgotten what they are capable of eating at that age. But I used to spend a lot of time out of the house all day with my DC when they were little so packed things like: mini bread sticks and mini rice cakes, avocado and humous dips (home made so low salt), mini wholemeal sandwiches with smooth PBJ or honey, thin ham or pate, peeled slices of apple, pear, cucumber, mini bananas, organix snacks, Organic baby food jars of veggie or chicken casserole and blueberry rice pudding.

Cold cooked broccoli and cauliflower was one of my DDs favourites. Her ultimate favourite was cold cooked corn on the cob, she'd gnaw at it like a dog with a bone. Brilliant as a snack when she was in the trolley seat at the supermarket, kept her occupied most of the way round.

Bread and butter finger sandwiches you could also add dairy free cream cheese spread, peanut butter, jam or meat paste

Banana or apple slices

Cherry tomatoes sliced in half, cucumber sticks or rounds

Celery stick with peanut butter or dairy free cream cheese spread along the hollow bit.
