Can I take homemade purée out in a cool bag?

Hi

I’m struggling to think of lunches for my DS when we’re out of the house. I usually just buy Ella’s kitchen pouches but we’re out a lot at the moment and don’t want to keep using these.

Would it be safe if I defrost his lentil pure over night then pack it in a cool bag with an icepack? And severe cold?

thanks

Also, i made him tomato and spinach pinwheels, if I defrost it over night would it need reheating? I want to take them out for lunches but not sure if this is safe

I used to do this, I sometimes used pre-made pouches but most of the time I used some purée out of the freezer. Also, how old is your baby? Once they get the hang of solids then you can do picnic style things - wraps, carrot sticks etc. I liked doing savoury muffins for my kids, they also freeze well.

Very much yes to both.

My local authority does classes for baby food, which might be good to get your confidence up?

I don't think veggie pin wheels need reheating. But lots of places have microwaves you can heat baby food in.

Yes to both! I am a bit of a food safety worrier and always feel more comfortable reheating things to death, but have done both these things with no issues. Baby loves Ella pouches but I hate the plastic waste in my bin so I am trying to use them less too!
